AP Human Geography and undecided on AP Statistics. I took regular Stats first semester and passed with a B, and I need at least a 4 to get proper credit at most of my schools. Think I can do it? :P

Can someone please explain the merits of self-studying

I’m doing it for the fun of it

Stats is insanely easy to self study, and you already know some. Do it.

I think I may try to self-study World History, both for the distinction, and because I enjoy the subject.

I might self study:
AP Env. Sci.
AP U.S. Gov
AP Psych.
AP Human Geography
But idk if i shud study us gov by myself, since i don’t really have a strong background on it. is it difficult? what are the best aps to study for? and does ivy league accept them?

-Freaked out Freshman

I was initially going to self-study AP US Gov so I can test out of my school’s government graduation requirement, but I don’t have enough money…

So I’m just self-studying Psych and Bio.

Wow, how do you guys find the time to do all that?
I’m self-studying AP Psych and AP Calc AB, and taking 4 exams in total (including AP Bio and AP Chem), yet I’m kind of struggling…

Never mind… decided not to self-study bio.

Self-studying Psych and US Gov instead :)

Why not Bio? (just curious)

It’s probably too late to start now. I’ve been caught up with a few EC’s.
Or maybe it isn’t too late.

How long do I need to study the Barron’s AP Psych book to get a 5?? :p

1 minute.

just kidding I don’t know

I’m only studying Ap Human Geography.

Both Physics C exams plus calc BC. Calc BC isn’t a full self-study since I took calc AB last year and took calculus 2 this summer at the community college.

I’m self studying both Physics C courses. For anyone who’s doing E&M, how far are you, if you have started? I just finished magnetic fields and am doing Faraday’s and Lenz’s laws.

Do you think it’s possible for me to pull off fives on AP human Geo and AP Bio if I start now?
I’m a freshman and I’ve just transferred from China.
I looked through the bio notes from cliffs noticing that I probably know 90%of the stuff on there already(but in Chinese, yeah…that sucks:(and from what I gathered from CC human geography is really easy.History and geography has always been my strong subjects and main area of interest, but again…in Chinese.sigh
I was also thinking about statistics which I don’t think would be too hard for me.I’ve finished pre-calculus but haven’t yet started on calculus.
p.s.I don’t expect myself to get too caught up in ecs, just piano swimming and volunteer work I guess but I have to put some extra effort on English if I want all A’s.

HEY I’ve just moved from Hong Kong too. But I’m a junior ><
What’s the hurry? You’re only a freshman; you still have 3 yrs to do them. Why don’t you self study just one to see how it goes. I heard human geo is easy, but I wouldn’t know because I didn’t take it. This is my first year doing APs too - I did IB in my old school.

By the way, what is the point of self studying these APs, it doesnt affect your GPA in any way???

I’m planning to self study AP Eng lang and APUSH because I feel unchallenged and unsatisfied in my regular classes - I was so ignorant about the american system at the time I chose my subjects :(

So, what are your reasons for self studying?

I plan on taking Human Geography, US Government and Politics, Environmental Science, and Psychology as well as Macro for my class. Are there any others that are easy and quick self-studies, as I have a good grip on these for now?

@eobaggs: I’m only self-studying Psych for ~3 months. Some have successfully studied Barrons the night before and received 5’s; others have studied around a week or two before the exam.

@orangefroot: I’m self-studying Psych because my school only offers a standard class.
US Gov for the same reason + I want to be exempt from our school’s graduation requirement. No sense in taking the exam, passing, then being forced to take the class lol. Unless my school is really that idiotic.
