*Official 2012 AP World History Thread*

Ugh. I’d be incredibly lucky if I got a 4, but I doubt it. Hopefully, a 3 at least. I studied my butt off for this test. I’m really confident in the MC and think the least I could’ve got was 50. And I spent probably 90 minutes total for the DBQ because my mind just froze up as to how cricket connected with politics. Then I started to analyze the crap out of a couple documents. 4 pages long total. D: And since I was kind of running out of time, I only wrote an intro/thesis statement for the last two essays. Ugh. The last two prompts were fairly easy and I did study through them, but I could only remember bits and pieces. I wished that they had an FRQ on religion instead, since that is my specialty.

I tried it, and I was borderline four and five. I probably only got 40 MC correct.

Totally BEASTED that DBQ. Wrote 14 pages in total. MC was easy and finished very much in time. Hopefully will get a five if I completed the administrative processes correctly XD

This is my first time posting :)

Okay, so here is my AP World History exam 2012 story:

So, Im an A student, & as a sophomore this is the first AP class we can take. I have an okay teacher &I’ve been studying for about a month. I studied pretty hard though (read the PR twice, BUNCH of practice tests, flashcards…etc). So Ive been hoping for a 4 possibly a 5!

So the multiple choice today was okay- Idk why but alot of people thought it was really easy- i thought it was moderate/difficult. I narrowed almost every questions to 2 answers, & usually just picked the one that seemed to make sense. I know that USUALLY (I know it changes year to year) a 60% & an average of 3-5 on youre essays will get you a 5. (Maybe your teachers told you otherwise?)

On practice tests (like the PR- which are supposed to be harder) Ive been getting 60-78%'s. Still- I dont really like history ( Im more science) so its still hard for me. Im guessing i got a 60 % on the MC.

Now the essays: The DBQ was really odd, i remeber grouping them in cricket creating a sense of nationalism, strenghtening political ties between Indians and the English, and bringing out peaceful oppositions towards English property rights & relgious based tournaments. (It made sense in my head to me- but I was probably disorganized). I might have misread them though. I had 3 POV’s & 2 AD’s. I didnt really analyze how hey related though. I think i got a 5. The CCOT was impossible for me! I BS’ed most of it! Idk why people ^^ are saying it was easy, it was WAY too broad. Trade networks in africa & Eurasia?! I was sooo confused I just talked about who dominated them, and what was traded. Im guessing I got a 3 on that essay. And finally, the CC was pretty easy for me, I choose the Columbian Exchange effects on Africa & Americas. Im guessing a 5 or 6 on that essay.

So Im pretty sure I got a 4, MAYBE a 5. What did you guys think?

^ I agree. Are you sure about that for the curve though?

The curve changes from year to year. For some reason, I think the curve this year is going to be harsher than last year.

Yeah! I feel like a usually its hard, but its hard for everyyone so a 60% (or around there) gets you a 5. However, todays test was hard, but alot of people (at least in my group) thought it was easy- so the top (idk 10?) percent of the testers will get 5’s. So yah, i agree the curve will probably be harsher this year. So alot of people that should get 5’s will probably get 4’s & so on.

Well even if the curve is harsh, the top 15-17% of testers will still get 5’s. This is because they are being compared to everyone in that specific year. But personally, I think all of the essays were easy/maybe moderate and could be completed within the given time period.

I dont get how the essays were easy, besides the last one? The CCOT made my brain hurt- I could not understand what the question meant. They didnt ask for patterns of interactions, or cultures, or political control along the trade routes. Just CCOt of them- Im not so confident anymore…

Well it was asking about trade. And trade incorporates all of the things you mentioned. The very movement of people can be part of trade. Ibn Battuta’s travels, the introduction of minted gold coins during the Mali empire, the spread of Islam to Africa, are all part of trade.

I laughed when I read the DBQ as well.

I’m pretty confident in a 5. The MC was fairly easy, and the essays weren’t bad at all. I ended up writing six and a half pages for my DBQ, and it took me an hour (so many documents!). I then wrote four pages for the CCOT and three and a half for the C/C. All in all, I didn’t find it too challenging. I’m so glad I didn’t run out of time.

My first AP exam, and im feeling a little bit bad about this one. I thought I did quite well on my DBQ and C&C; maybe a 5 or 6, but after reading your responses, Im feeling a little iffy.

My CCOT was total bs. I left that one for last. I wrote a good 3/4 of the essay before I realize I answered the question wrong. I probably didnt get any points for that, if that is possible. I thought I read “AND” instead of “BETWEEN” on the prompt. ■■■.

Im glad you guys did good. im crossing my fingers for this one.

Oh, and I though the MC was okay. Wasnt as hard as the one in my practice booklet. :P

That DBQ made my day. I smiled the moment I saw it (Yes smiled.). This is because I know a lot of stuff about cricket and even knew (not personally) some of the people in the docs. XD

I think this is harder to get a good score on than other APs- because this course is generally taken by other classes other than seniors.

When APs are just taken by seniors you definitely notice seniors not trying AT ALL (because these are the last minutes of their high school career and they just don’t care)

I think I did okay… dbq was weird didn’t even know that sport existed HAHA.
How hard do they generally grade the essays since they’re alot different from AP U.S where we just memorize the facts and present?

did anyone get a lot of b’s in the beginning

Doesn’t that depend on the form number?

wait guys so what do u think will take to get a 5 on this ap

MC: ?
FRQs?

Probably about 50 MC right and 16 points on the essays

I thought the multiple choice was really easy. I laughed out loud when I read the first question. I answered the DBQ really well, but I’m not too sure about the other two essays. I seem like the only person at my school who is confident that I got a 5. I don’t want to be cocky, but I thought I blew it out of the water.
