Official 2012 June ACT Math Test discussion

@Good whatever I put was right…I know that at least

For the rocket question, I think 1 was C and 2 was D.

How much would a -5 or maybe 7 set me back?

If anyone’s wondering, I just looked at the curves for the three Red Book tests and -1 has always been a 35 :(

^ Not always.

Practice test 4:: -1 = 36
Practice test 5:: -2 = 36

I want scores

Thinking this math test will be -1=36. Problems weren’t hard, but they were more time consuming than usual.

@karatekid666 I want ice cream.

There are more than 3 practice tests? I’ve never really prepped for the ACT but I skimmed through my Red Book and only saw 3 tests and their respective curves. I took pictures and here’s what’s there: [ACT Curves for Practice Tests #1-3 (Red Book) - Imgur](ACT Curves for Practice Tests #1-3 (Red Book) - Album on Imgur)

Let me know what else there is, I’d be happy to get a 36 with a -1.

@LiamNeeson
The older version of the Red Book has only 3 practice tests. The newer version (don’t remember the year it came out…maybe like 2010 or 2011?) has 5 practice tests.

@vladf22
Ah that makes sense, I was looking at my sister’s book from ~3 years ago.

@set1012 it was C

I want ice cream too

So seriously, what are we thinking for the curve from -1 thru -4/-5 (to offer breadth as it were)?

Sorry, not sure if this was confirmed as I haven’t read the entire thread, but are we sure that for abs x= -x is x is less than or equal to 0? Maybe I’m just not thinking right, but can’t the answer also be 0? It also depends on the exact wording of the question, because if it said something like “if abs x= -x is true”, there could be two possible answers? If the question was as unclear as this, do you think it will be removed from scoring from the test? Please enlighten me on the situation.

i got 35 on December math and it also was my highest composite of 31. I don’t remember the specifics of that test but i guess it wasn’t so bad. This test i thought was very straightforward except for 1 question and it turns out i got that right so it seems this one was easier than December for me :). hoping for a 31+ comp

Hi, I have two very quick questions. Does anyone remember if the rectangular plot was 8 by 12 or 8 by 16 in the garden question? And was the answer to the circle equation (x-2)^2 - (x-1)^2 = 4?

Thanks

@ treesrr do u remember the specifics for the first question and yes for the second one

wait, about the a^-x question, i don’t remember there being a choice for always decreasing; i specifically remember that it said always decreasing for x >= 0(which is true since it is always decreasing). anyone else with me on this?
