I took the revised bio exam last year for a science elective sophomore year. My teacher was terrible, and I always did my chemistry homework during the class. The exam was a lot like the act science for the multiple choice.
I took the practice exam, which was really the only thing that helped me. To study, I used the Cliffs book that was revised for the exam and the revised kaplan crash course. It maybe helped for the frqs. But your best bet will be to really try to remember the practice exam and see if your teacher will go over it with you.

Khan academy really helped for tests. They have a lot of the things that were covered in the class. You really just need to be familiar with the topics and know the gist of them. I really enjoy biology and I made a 5, but only 5 percent of the test takers got it. The test wasn’t hard at all, but the scale will pretty much screw you over.

So basically the curve is the reason why the percentage of fives has decreased from 30 to 5%? Also, did the AP Bio test have the same format in 2013 as it will in 2014 and future years or was it memorization even in 2013?

I love biology, but my AP Bio teacher is really lenient and doesn’t cover a whole lot in class, as in, she just has us watch Bozeman Biology videos (which are amazing!) for homework. I’m not super worried about the AP test though - I’m doing a lot of studying for USABO, and the AP curriculum just barely skims over all that stuff… anyway, I hope I’ll be able to connect concepts well come the AP test. Good luck everyone!

Hi, will I be fine if I take 5 AP’s in junior year?

Schedule:

AP Biology

AP Lang

AP Economics

AP Literature

Physics (honors not offered)

Chemistry (honors not offered)

Honors Pre-Calculus

I have never taken any AP’s but I am to the challenge and very organized and timely.

My schedule for 9-10th grades was a little ‘unchallenging’ so I want to make up for that GOOD. Keep in mind I want to go to a Top 20-25 college!

Any suggestions on the most helpful books for the new curriculum in the AP Biology test?
I heard that the princeton review doesn’t cover the new method of testing as well as the cliff notes, but I’m still unsure if there’s even a 3rd or more books that might be better than both of these.

AP language isn’t going to put any pressure on you if you’ve been practicing essays and comprehension passages. I’d say the same about AP literature (but personally I’m not that good with poems/analyzing)

AP Economics is actually quite easy.

If your chemistry and physics are not intensive courses then I think your only real challenge would be AP Biology. Content wise, the material is quite okay, but its the new method of testing that puts everyone on the bad side. You can rate yourself and see how good you are with AP Biology.

Since you’re aiming high, then you should be able to work well with some pressure and heavy workload…that’s the only way you’ll prove you’re fit for the top 20-25 colleges you want to attend.

heyy everyone i’m currently a sophomore and i’ve taken bio 1 before and ended the year with a A+ with a near 100% score. My school doesn’t offer AP bio and offers IB instead, but I want to get some APs done before 11th grade. I’m thinking of taking AP Psych, AP Environmental Science and AP bio this may. I heard AP Psych and APES are pretty easy to handle but I’m just worried about Bio. I heard things have changed and before it was the easiest science because it was only memorization but now it’s not… Would it still be okay if I self-studied for it?? I have the Cliffs Bio Notes and am planning to study hard for the next 3 months… do you think it’ll be possible to get a 5?? How hard is the test?? Thank you :)

@janice1019 I think you should be fine. But make sure you have the new edition of cliffsnotes and getting the pr book wouldnt hurt. Ap bio is honestly just a reteach of regular high school biology but going more in depth into everything. Also make sure you practice your frqs well. I heard the new test is very ecology/evolution heavy so having ap environ sci might actually help.

uhhh guys i was just wondering…ive been self studying ap bio for a few months now… and i thought i was failing miserably and was on the verge of giving up, but i tried solving all the multiple choice practice questions that college board has (like the huge 200 pg pdf file u can download), and i actually didnt do that bad!!! are the practice questions on cb just super easy, or might i actually have a chance??? thanks… so much

The exam is still relatively new so it’s hard to predict a cutoff. On another note, what is everyone on in their class? Our class is still on evolution and I’m getting worried because we still have plants, animals and the human nervous system.
