**OFFICIAL 2013 Fall UCSB Transfer Decisions Thread**

At this rate, it looks like I’ll hear from UCLA/UCB before I hear from UCSB.

@Reedy916 I checked UCSB’s portal webpage about a week ago and it said I was accepted, but I didn’t get a e-mail saying to check the Portal until like two or three days later. I did get my Admissions packet in the mail yesterday, I haven’t personally looked at it though because it’s getting all mailed back to my house in California rather than my apartment in Boston.

Anyone receive a Big Envelope from UCSB yet? Thanks.

@Reedy916, Yes. I got accepted with using the AP Lit Exam (Score of 3) to satisfy the requirement. It’s likely I will have to retake an entry-level writing course since a score of 3 will probably only count for credits, not a substitute for an actual class. Good luck

@ucorbus5 thanks. I was extremely worried about that and was wondering if that was what hasbeen hholding my acceptance up.

@Reedy916, I also submitted a 3 for my AP English exam. It substituted for the first english course I was required to take and then I took the second english course after at a community college. So I was done with my english courses a while ago. I haven’t heard back yet either, and I also thought it was because of me submitting that AP score. I wrote that I passed my AP English exam in my additional comments. Is that what you did too?

@natfire452 yes that is exactly what I did. And u combust said that he was accepted with the same situation, so hopefully we are fine. My guess is that we would probably have to take an English courseor test when we get to ucsb

Does anyone how does UCSB evaluate transfer applications? I’ve been waiting for my admission status and still nothing yet.

It’s all random, tszman0424. I received my decision on the first day at around 3:20 pm.

The wait is such a pain. :frowning: I hope I get my result soon.

@Theygotin i just got my envelope today ^____^

Same here!

Reflection

Strengths: Every semester after my first semester of freshman year has been straight A’s.
Weaknesses: None I can think of except a D my first semester in a pre-req class.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Definitely the improvement after the first semester and work experience.

General Comments: I thought that the D would definitely weigh me down, but I guess it didn’t. I wasn’t even going to check tonight, but it was a good thing I did. Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting!

I was rejected from my first choice major Biology at the College of Creative Studies, and I will probably be rejected from the school as well. I really don’t know what I could have done better considering how sick I was last year. A real bummer, but what can you do I suppose… Maybe the deal breaker was not having my 2nd English class finished, although I had everything else done. I’ll probably be rejected from the other UC’s as well. Here’s my stats if anyone is interested. It was a reach anyway :/.
GPA: 3.06 (upward trend. 4.0 summer, 3.6 last semester). All sciences.

All prerequisites finished except English composition, which I am taking right now and getting an A in.

EC’s: Interning at a sea laboratory on O’ahu. I’m helping a couple grad students who are researching how hammerhead sharks sense magnetic fields when hunting… just started in January though.

Bit of a downer, but I tried my best. I was idealistic, but it’s back to the indifferent reality of academia now :p. I just hope I forget about it soon. Some alcohol will help ;)
