Probably horse meat in McDonalds as well, with all the other places that have had it in. They generally put the whole animal in as well. Never ate fast food meat, even before I became vegetarian.

@ UKgirl23: You’re a vegetarian? Wow. I admire them. For their ability to resist the temptation of a tasty beef steak or a crunchy hamburger!

@UKgirl23 and GoldenRatio I thought it was pink slime? Or was that all the remains of the meat it was made from, bones included. Just Google it, I don’t think McD’s has anything ‘real’ in it, haha.

@hamburger haha thanks  It’s been surprisingly easy actually, except giving up fish. Still haven’t managed that one, but I’m getting there.

@bsroxmysox: Pink slime, yes. Meat glue is found in meat products as well (just not completely sure if it’s in McDonald’s or not…I needed an example quick, so I just wrote the first example that popped into my head!)

@UKgirl23: Hey, I’m going vegetarian as well! It’s actually going very well; I don’t have the fish problem like you do. I’ve never liked fish; it’s too slimy and/or bony for my tastes. XP

I’ve managed without touching meat for 3 years (except when I accidentally ate bacon at a school when I was visiting!) and I’m finally feeling guilty about eating fish so I’m planning to try giving it up over the summer, if my parents will let me.

@UKgirl23: Good luck! :)

@UKgirl23 and @GoldenRatio: Do you guys have any problems when hanging out with friends, when everyone eats meat and you guys just look? easy? oh man, that substantiates for the belief that guys are different from girls! Do you experience weight loss or lack of energy? Thanks

@GoldenRatio and @UKgirl23 I’m a vegetarian as well! Well technically I’m a pescetarian because I eat fish but oh well

@hamburger I was mildly anaemic after I switched, but I don’t have any problem now. If only I’d lost weight…
I don’t mind people eating meat in front of me, the rest of my family do. After not eating it for this long the thought of it really grosses me out.

@UKgirl23: Thanks for you thought. I would definitely try to be a vegetarian when I’m at BS. I was sad when I read the part "If only I’d lost weight… ". Hopefully I can lose a lot :D.
@AmbiD77: Well well well, I think we should open a thread name :“Who’s a vegetarian?” :D

Ahaha, the rew times I tried to abstain from meat happened to be days my mom made particularly succulent meat, and I gave in without a moments hesitation.

@bsroxmysox: I feel for you! However, reading about the horrors of the food industry does wonders for your appetite. I just wouldn’t really recommend it to you.

On a side note, how do you like your meat? Rare, medium-rare, or well done?

@hamburger110: Well, when I first told my family that I was going veggie, my parents heaped a cartload of beans into my diet. Seriously. Red beans, kidney beans, black beans, pink beans. They also brought home a wide variety of nuts, eggs, etc. So I didn’t experience any symptoms of fatigue, or weight loss.

And I don’t really feel awkward if my friends eat meat. After all, what can I do? Threaten them with violence? And I’ve been a vegetarian for so long that I don’t really notice.

@GoldenRatio Wow, I really haven’t really ever had someone ask me how I like my meat, partly because I’m only 14…so I guess I like it however it’s given, as long it meets three requirements. 1) No blood. Ever, 2) Try to keep as much fat off the meat as possible, I despise meat fat. And I’ve actually seen a documentary on meat, I saw how badly and nastily the cows, chickens and pigs were treated; I cried and my dad told me to get off the computer because I wasn’t doing my homework like I said, haha.

@bsroxmysox: I started laughing at the “No blood. Ever” comment, because that’s exactly how I feel! The watery scarlet fluids just leaking out of the hunk of meat…is enough to take my appetite away, even right now (chomping on a bag of Popchips right now :)) And the fat and grease can get icky-it’s the main reason why I don’t eat melted cheese.

Haha, homework is our lives! But seriously, it dominates my life. Well, not now, of course, because the Waiting Game has rewired my whole entire brain; I think it’s called neuroplasticity?

@GoldenRatio Yuck, greasy chicken is just unappetizing (except for Popeyes) Also, why no melted cheese? I have a slight fondness for melted cheese in sandwiches :D

On another note, which fast food place do you prefer: KFC or Popeye’s?

@bsroxmysox: Melted cheese releases this amber coloured oil/grease-the gleaming surfaces make me immediately think of artificial food; and I have never developed the liking for the oily taste. :(

Would you believe me if I said that I’ve never been to KFC or Popeye’s? My family is very crunchy, healthy, granola; so no fast-food for us! I’ve only been to McDonald’s a few times, because I was with friends. Haha, maybe I should visit some restaurants if I go to BS. Get a full sample of America’s culture.

Another side note: Which flavor of ice cream do you like the best?

@GoldenRatio Wow. I’m only a tiny bit surprised because I had this friend 6th-8th grade who had a nutritionist for a mother…'nuff said. Doubt she had one unhealthy thing the whole 3 years I was friends with her, save for the occassional treat from teachers and/or friends. And I really don’t consider McD’s even worthy of calling themselves fast food, more like ‘unreal food’. I mean, did you see that Wendy’s commercial where the burger the guy was eating said inside the bag ‘100% recycled paper’ and the girl said ‘I’m sure they meant the bag’, it automatically made me think of a silent jab to McDonald’s because of how disgustingly fake their food is/was. Which is true. I think you should go to some goood fast-food places should you go to boarding school, but not McDonald’s. No.

Side note: Plain/French Vanilla, all day every day. I really can’t fathom why there is such an abundance of people who love chocolate over vanilla, but hey, I’m being biased here. Just never really saw the attraction to chocolate ice cream.

@bsroxmysox: Haha, I’ll keep that in mind! My favorite ice cream flavor has got to be chocolate. I like vanilla, but it’s always been bland to my tastes (insert bias), and I just love anything chocolate!

Isn’t it funny how there’s hot chocolate and cold chocolate? My favorite drink has got be an iced hot chocolate; it’s a really refreshing drink, with all the yummy chocolatey goodness of a steamy hot chocolate!

@GolenRatio I let out something that sounded like a mix between a groan and a blech when I read that you liked chocolate, but that’s my bias speaking. I like hot chocolate too, but your inquiry reminded me of this plastic bottle-like pouch that came in chocolate and vanilla milk flavors, and there was a cow on the front. Oh, and each pouch came with a straw attached to it. I used to love those things…until I turned 10.
