"Your application for admission to the University of Richmond has been carefully reviewed. This year, Richmond received about 10,000 applications from many accomplished students like you. We were most impressed with your remarkable achievements, but because we are need-aware for non-U.S. citizens and you did not submit an International Financial Certification in the minimum amount of $61,090, we will be unable to offer you admission and financial aid on April 1.

If you are able to locate appropriate financial aid resources for the four years of university study prior to May 1, please submit an original copy of the International Financial Certification form which can be found at [Timeline - Undergraduate Admission - University of Richmond](<a href=“Admission Process - Undergraduate Admission - University of Richmond”>Admission Process - Undergraduate Admission - University of Richmond) under the International tab and click on Financial Certification Form, in the minimum amount of $61,090 by express mail. Upon receipt of the International Financial Certification, the University may consider extending an offer of admission if space is still available in the entering class after May 1."

I did not apply for financial aid as it will drastically reduce my chances of admission by like 20%? Anyway I got denied because I downloaded their financial statement form at the end of last year with their 2012-2013 form where their total cost is $59,450, which resulted me in allocating $60,000 instead of $61,090.

I should have just put $65k instead and maybe I would have gotten accepted? WHat should I do now?

Oh weird. Richmond doesn’t seem to like its international applicants =/ Personally, a 60k a year education would not be worth it to me without tons of scholarship/aid.

Same with me…damn… where the hell do I get $61k… (off to the casino… :-/) @rira17 …what was your SAT score? @malaysia… SAT score? @zschak… yeah I have been accepted to the University of Minnesota… I ll probably be attending UMn unless I miraculously get into Umich… where else have you applied?

@USOhYeah I hope you do know SAT scores do not seem like the deciding factor at Richmond right? I mean, I know scholars with a <2100 SAT score.
Also if I remember correctly doesn’t Richmond have a SAT optional to?
Dont’ be disappointed, have you heard from your other colleges?

On another note, there is a trend for international students who got aid here to have at least some of that being merit… And the letter actually says that you guys will be put on the wait list if you can send in financials, not admitted :/

@bluelovexD …yeah I know… just a little depressed… yeah I have heard from quite a few… this was my first rejection… …but its ok…in all probability I will be attending U of Minnesota so thats some cheer instore for me :)

I got the same email from Richmond. I was really fond of the college but they just let themselves down with this message. It’s not about the rejection, I realize they are need aware but offering to extend the admission if we manage to pay 61k is just weird.

Ah I want to go to this school so badly I already send my international cert of finances allocating more than the minimum ($61,090) annually for this school and they said they will be reevaluating my application file :S

My daughter received a large envelope in the mail today.
ACT 33
GPA 4.0
Lots of clubs, leadership positions and service. Great teacher recs. Great essays.
No hook.

We live about 2 hours north of Richmond so I imagine most of you will be getting your decisions early this week.

Hang in there. The waiting is so tough. I am sure that no matter where all of you end up, you will be very successful in your life.

Uhhh. I am so nervous. When I first visited Richmond I was not set on the school, now however If accepted I would definitely attend. I wish my admissions counselor and I could communicate telepathically. Please accept me.
