*"Official" 2013 USABO*

maybe we can call them tomorrow?

@ darksigma:

Nobody is trying to paint CEE as some sort of scheming evil force but when they say that they will post scores, it is acceptable to expect them to post the scores. If they knew that they wouldnā€™t be ready they could have just posted a notice saying that they were delaying scores to another date and time.

From talking to people who take other olympiads, it appears that USABO is by far the most informal/least well organized. To be fair, I believe they are the newest on the block though.

yeah, USABO is WAY disorganized

so thereā€™s no chance of coming up today?

@emblem101: as much as I agree with you regarding the posting of a note and respect you for defending other comments, you have to admit that the tone and language used has been rather condescending and anything but respectful. We ought to all keep in mind that the CEE is inherently doing US a favor by hosting the competition in the first place, not the other way around.

Criticism can be made without being disrespectful. As a litmus test - would you consider making some of the comments that were posted to the CEEā€™s face?

I would make these very comments to CEEā€™s face. While I admit it is very noble that they are organizing a USA Team, itā€™s also VERY disrespectful and unprofessional to blatantly lie to its participants, many of whom who have worked very hard. Its not courteous nor professionally sound to simply blow something off without making an excuse at the minimum.

^seconded.

at the very least, we can discuss the questions right?

I believe CEE pushed the deadlines last year as well IIRC.

Youā€™d think theyā€™d learn their lesson and just NOT give hard deadlines so as to avoid riling people up lol.

Can we start discussing the open questions?

Yeah I think we can. Since the exam scores were ā€œsupposedā€ to be released already, I guess weā€™re allowed to discuss questions since the scores are already out

Darksigma: you have to understand how hard we kids study for the test and waiting every single day to passby, counting down every minute today to see the result. I didnt take the test ( here for my younger brother who is 13 yrs old and sleep like a baby while I am here to check for his score ), itā€™s reasonable for them to show frustration that way. I am totally feel for them.

^I wonā€™t hold it against you for not knowing this, but itā€™s hilarious that youā€™re talking to DARKSIGMA of all people about how hard some people work for USABO, considering the fact that heā€™s qualified for the camp in the past and (I believe) got the second highest open exam score in the country last year. lol

As an organization (especially a national one) USABO should have the level of organization and professional nature to meet deadlines effectively. Something like this is pretty disappointing for a national-run, world-renowned academic competition. On the other hand, thereā€™s no point in complaining and going insane over it; but something needs to be done to streamline USABOā€™s proceedings.

no wonder darksigma isnā€™t frustrated, he/she already knows that he/she made it :)

@kbolisetty23 : oh no I didā€™nt imply any ill feeling toward Darksigmaā€¦ It just understandable how the kids frustrated in that way. We are still kids, and just like waiting to open the christmas gifts at mid-night when suddenly our parents said No you cant , wait until ā€¦whenever they said soā€¦

Yeah - letā€™s start the discussion. About the erythrocyte question, I thought the answer should be three.

Scores are posted!

I donā€™t see mine.
