**Official 2014 F=ma and USAPhO Thread**

Is it just me or is there significantly less hype about USAPhO compared to USABO? Hah. There wasn't an existing thread so I decided just to make one myself. Anyone have any information they'd like to share?

I’m super scared for it. I’ve been averaging about 15 right on all the past tests except for 2013, which I haven’t taken. I should have gotten 20 right on 2011. The questions aren’t hard; I’m just pressed for time…

God I hope I qualify.

when do you guys have it? I have been getting around 17-18 area and sometimes right on the cutoff.

Sigh, so nervous.

Made semis last year, I just need to not embarrass myself this year by not making it…I get done over by timing and a whole lot of dumb mistakes/incorrect assumptions. Like for instance forgetting that torque is a cross product and just multiplying instead.

When will the result come out? Oh my god so nervous…

the cutoff is less than 13.

OK, so I don’t want to start the other USAPhO 2014 thread up again because it’s full of trolls and spam.

Anyway, the cutoff is 12.5. Is anyone else here taking the semis? It’s be great if we gave each other recommendations - i.e., textbooks, experience, etc. For one I’m using Kleppner’s mechanics.

@IIlIll Might be too late now, but I heard Kleppner’s the best for mechanics. Also heard that Halliday, Resnick, and Krane are the best overall. And Irodov’s problems are good, Feynman’s lectures if you have the time.

Is this your first year?

Nah, tried it last year, failed epicly at semifinals stage. Goal is to get a least half of the problems this year ._.

IBO Gold medal winner Nikhil Buduma shares his high school experience this Friday evening. http://springlighteducation.blogspot.com/

How do you get in on this? I love physics and wouldn’t mind doing this for giggles.
