First of all, congratulations to those that placed in the top 20. It is no easy feat.

I do feel the need to voice my opinion on what I’m about to say. As a senior, I’ve had some time (maybe unlike juniors or sophomores, or even freshman) to reflect on the value of this competition away from the stressful thoughts of its ties to doing well in the college application process. And the most important thing, I think, is to realize that the knowledge you acquire and take away from preparation is more important than the score you get. Of course the honorable mentions and awards and gold medals are rewarding and pleasing, because you see your hard work pay off. Recognition after all is a basic human need. But no matter the result, carry forth with you that knowledge you acquired, because it will serve you for a long, long time. Congratulations again to the finalists!

Again echoing ChessNBio, congrats to everyone that made the top 20! I completely agree, as a senior who has done this (made finals) twice, it really is more about what you learn in the process of preparing. I mean this is really cool stuff!! Anyways congrats to everyone who made it, best of luck, but don’t forget that USABO is about learning an absolutely awesome subject and not just for competing or college apps and stuff.

Also, we can’t forget to congratulate the people who tried so hard, but didn’t make it this year.
Just making it into Semifinals is a huge accomplishment!

Is the list of the finalists posted yet? I didn’t make camp, but I’m just curious of the people who did. Again, congrats to all who made it and participated!

awesome. a little salty about missing the cutoff by five points (smh multigene families lol) but the fact we’re still getting recognition for our work is great. congrats to everyone who made finals!
