Official ACT April 8th Thread

I think so...I can't remember. I think I did a bit of omitting. I don't remember a lot about the test.

it was the one with R(x), but i think i put 7-but i'm probably wrong. did you get 800 something for the one about the cheerleaders selling candy bars?

It was $10 per item, but the fixed number was $30,000 (not $10,000).

There was a fixed number (which would be the y intercept) and what they called a "per item" number, which would be the "m" in y=mx+b. The y intercept was $30,000.

For the other one, just look at the units. One x axis unit was $2,000 and one y axis unit was $20,000. 20,000 over 2,000 = $10 per item.

did anyone get a or f on number s maybe 40 through 44? it was like the third column at the top i got the same answers for a few question s in a row. anyone?

"i prefer to know a pen is handy"

what was the answer to that one?

no change
to know that
knowing

and also, what was the formula for ocd1 and 2? ..or whatever it was called..

for A and F for those numbers a few were no change but some had regualr anwers. i got a lot of A's or F's on the english did anyone elsE?

Waffle,

Not sure if I'm right, but I saw that the paragraph was in present tense so I put KNOWING.

Yeesh, I need a hug.

On the english i got a lot of A's and F's
Math was ok for me, didn't know alot of trig.
Reading, with 10 minutes to go i started just making educated guesses from what i read
Science very hard, - what was the chemcal formula for that one problem

The formula for the science one was the only choice that had those three elements--Carbon, oxygen, and something else--only. That was one of those questions where you had to actually infer from the passage. You couldn't have gotten it from looking at any of the tables.

i think i put knowing

Question #58 on the math, two parallel lines, the angle in the middle was 80 degrees, you were given one another angle which was 35 degrees....what was the answer to the other angle asked for?

I think the angle was 45 because I worked it out and got that so pretty sure

I was confused on that too until I realized there was only one option with just carbon, oxygen and fluorine. The others all had hydrogen or chlorine.

45 degrees, I believe. Triangles and alternate interior angles are your friend. :)

Thanks, I think it was 45.

Ok I counted swiftly and got around 17 A's and F's for English...... and I think in like 1 or 2 passages, I got 5 A's or F's......

can somebody make an educated guess of how many science questions you can miss and still score a 28?

same thing for reading.

did anyone get a lot of A's and F's on the english part?????

Paki, how did you get 1, sq2, 0 on the cube question

college89, I suggest you read the post immediately above yours.

That said...I didn't get a ton of As. That makes me feel bad...

For the reading section, the question about the narrator's father in the picture where she said "my father was unrecognizable." What does "unrecognizable" suggest? I thought it had something to do with that she was unaware of how much he had changed? something like that maybe?

You needed to find the diagonal connecting F and whatever point it was on the same z-axis. The diagonal was sq2 because the sides were both 1 (1^2+1^2=2 and sq2=side by the Pythagorean theorem...or you could say that it was a 45-90-45 triangle). That means the point is over sq2 on the y-axis. It was also up one but on the 3-D axis, not moved at all. Thus, (0, sq2, 1).
