Official ACT April 8th Thread

I got a few questions.

On the english one aobut the kids and them seeing the garbage truck.

Who
Whom

Also, during the pen perpensity story. Was it elses or else's?

I took the preparation class for this and never did we have a test as hard as those.

Also, I HATE science ones relating to EROSION and DIRT and also animal breedings.

Oh one more questoin, during the deer tick question, the 2nd one, what is essential for the tick to continuae transferring bacteria?

I put mice, instead of deer. good?

I put who because whom didn't sound right

Don't remember about else's/else

I put mice because on the chart mice was the only thing that was listed by itself. Everything else (deer, humans, etc.) had a group of things or had "other domesticated animals" listed under them.

Question:

On the astronomy passage in english, what was the one thing not explained in the passage?

I put why the sun was bigger than the earth

For the deer tick, I put mice.

For the pen, I said else's.

For the kids, I said who.

For the math, I think I said 3tan70 (you didn't use the angle they gave you).

For the astronomy, I said the sun was bigger.

On the deer/tick one, I couldnt locate that in the graph, I must have had a brain fart or something.

For the kids, I put whom, because it was more than one.

For the math tan one, I put 3tan30, i knew it was probably wrong, but didnt know how to get 3tan70 or any of that.

For the science, I had to guess a lot. For 1 minute a question, that was insane. Id be lucky to get a 20-25 on that :( Lets hope there is a good curve! I will be taking the ACT on the 26th, so hopefully that one will be easier!

What did you guys put on that one with the large table/small table deal? How did you solve that? I solved it but couldnt get it to match any of the choices.

"For the kids, I put whom, because it was more than one."

"Whom" isn't plural. Well, it could be plural. But the point is that you use "whom" when it is an object.

"This present is for whom?" "You gave whom the present?"

An easy way to test if you should use "whom" is to replace "whom" with "me." If it makes sense, put "whom."

whom=me/them who=they/he

it was else's so it was correct how it was...i think i got it wrong lol
also it was "who"
I thought this test was ok but im praying for a good curve...reading sucked the worst though

Well, it was tough to explain so I put because more than one. I thought that whom was the most appropriate.

which one was this?

i put is....

i believe she was referring to all her pens (she just got finished mentioning all the pens she carried around), so i put they, but could be "the one i'm using," but it seemed too long for me....

i put attraction on the one that was least acceptable

that one was tricky, because at first i tried to write an equation by using cos or sine (don't remember which one)and then quickly realized none of the answer choices contained cosine or sine. i got it right though. i just had to find the 3rd angle cause they gave 2 angles!

i also put why the sun was bigger, never mentioned it

It was 40L + 1250, I believe. $40 per large table and you needed L of those. There were 50 small tables at $25 dollars each and all of those got rented out. 50*25=1250 and add to that the money generated from L tables at $40 each and you get the equation 40L + 1250.

Should he have included that he found them under his pillow? I said NO, because it was more than needed; he said that he found them ajacent to his dresser or something.

I put "who"...I was thingk about that one for a whilei put yes for the pillow thing because the next sentence had something to do with his sleep

i included it, because the next sentence wouldn't have made sense if the sentence about the pens under his pillow were'nt there

Do you think they will go easy on the curve...I mean the test was really hard (my opinion was that science was hard and in reading took a lot of time to do)

I think I wrote some marks with my pencil where the scantron lines are (the smae black lines at the left side) will this mess up my score? It was where I bubbled my my test booklet number.

They better go easy on the curve...lol. My only consolation is I have a very good SAT score that converts to 33+ on the ACT to back me up when I fail this.

I I did weel on english then math but then I got to the reading where I had little time which set me up for a horrible mood to do the hard science test. But I think I did well on the essay.
