Official ACT February 2012 Science Section

@Somewhere2017: The answer to the last question was A and C. C branched out from B after the point that they asked about. A section went to zero before the point they asked about.

Does anyone remember some of the questions from the last passage of the science section with the e0? because i really want to know what some of those answers were

what’d yall put for the very last question? i forget the question but the answer choices were like A and C only, A and B only, B and C only, etc…

For the railgun one, did the circuit length increase or decrease as the projectile traveled? I had said it increased, therefore the resistance increased, but I’m not sure if that’s right.

i put increased/increased as well. Does anyone remember any of the trait Q questions?? besides 100%

Good thing we’re learning about recessive and dominant genes next week
But seriously, can someone explain the reasons for the correct answers on that passage?

ok so on this science what would a -4 equate to 30? 31?

It might be like 36(-1). Hopefully.

For those who took the test before, how long was it before you received scores?

My first time taking it, and my proctor said 5-8 weeks (w/ writing).
People here seem to be saying 2 weeks, so I don’t know which one is right…

I got my December results on January 1st.

Can anyone please post the answers to the Trait Q passage?

Meh. This test was a *****. I hope the curve is friendly.

The Gracken

I took the test December, I got my results 3 weeks after.

I didn’t finish that crap, I just filled in random answers at the 5 minute mark. So…

i filled in random bubbles for the whole last (eo) section and the last like 2 for the one before. the 1st two sections weren’t too bad though.

Some guy i know taught me a method in which you count each question for each passage. The ones with 5 = data (generally the easiest), with 6 = experiments (easy/hard, depends. much more inference) and the one with 7 = fighting scientists. I do the data ones first, then the experiments, then the Fighting scientists last. the very last passage about E0 was probably the most confusing data passage i have ever seen, but i did it like 3rd so i had time. Probably missed at least 2 on that part. at the end, i had 4 mins left and got to the hypotheses 1/2/3/4 and literally wizzed thru it. easiest f/s imo. curve could go either ways, cuz the f/s is generally never that easy. I guessed flat out on 1 question (1st passage). Oh boy the 7th passage sucked though, I could not read the graph. I put 27% for substance D or whatever. 100% on genetic one, for the 1st passage i put all of em said climate change, hypotheses 3/4 would be weakend if something about humans came over, and ya i can’t remember haha. Personally, i thought the math was insane on this one. Reading was fair, english was english pretty easy. I’m expecting a 30-32

Hi i had a question

For the fighting scientists passage (passage #1), the last question was asking you to assume that humans had went to america 10,000 years before the animals became extinct

which hypothesis did this harm and why

(a) 1 because the creatures died before humans settled
(b) 1 because the creatures died soon after the humans settled
(c) 3 because the creatures died before humans settled
(d) 3 because the creatures died soon after the humans settled

to jog your memory
passage 1: climate change killed the creatures
passage 3: hunting killed the creatures and climate change had no effect

Is anyone certain about the answer to the Trait Q question that had choices:
C) Must be qQ
D) Must be Qq
E) Could be either qQ or Qq

i forgot whether it is c or d, but its definitely 3 and because 3 states that creatures died after humans settled.

did anyone remember the graph for fighting scientist, is it increase, decrease, and then increase again.

also, for the last confusing data question, is the tramsmitt percent calculated by 100% subtract the absorb part? other choices are plus, multiple, and divide, which seem no sense.
