Official Act Math Thread February 2013

was one of the answer choices 80 for the kite inside a triangle problem?

Here seems to be the general consensus for the questions:
Probability question = {3/4}- answer choice A
Period= 4 pie
Town question= 12
Total hours read question = 24n- answer choice C
Ticket one- 150 adult, { 200 children }
Pencils- 1155- Answer Choice D
Ellipse- x^2/9+ y^2/16 =1- answer choice A
Distance= 5
Kite= 75 degrees
Billy question- 1.33
Inverse sine - sin^-1 of (18/72)

I believe the sin inverse one was just sin-1 (opposite/hypotenuse)? Answer choice A I think.

Anyone know if the sin question where it was using the equation “sin<A/a = sin<B/b” etc. was answer choice A?

@Amplified
ur question was covered in the earlier pages of this thread, forgot which one tho

bmirish, i do not remember the answer choice but your logic is right { sin-1

wait was the kite question the one asking for <CZE or something like that?

Twas diddly

but the angle it was asking for was obtuse, so it couldn’t have been 75… i think i got 150

Wait… was it 150???

yes because the angle was obtuse!! i remember the exact problem now. im sure it was 150. and it was drawn to scale because it didnt say otherwise

I still think it was 75.

Anybody else have any input… it seems from others that the answer was 75. I wish i remembered the question better

the angle was definitely acute for the one with the kite in it… the 50 degree angles were supplementary and so the two supplementary angles made the kite have central angles that equaled 260 + the angle that was 25 degrees due to the entire right triangle having another angle that was 65 degrees. 260 plus 25 = 285. 360-285 = 75

Thanks Cengel!

I’m pretty sure both 150 and 75 are correct answers… to different questions.

360 degrees in a kite
25 degrees from the triangle angle
You could find that two other angles were 130 degrees each from angle additional postulate
360 - 25 - 130 - 130 = 75

Yup 75

Thanks Kongo, what would be the question with the answer 150 WuliMaster

Billy question- 1.33
Inverse sine - sin^-1 of (18/72)

The slopes of the absolute value one was m + -m so 0?

And the three consecutive even integers whose product was 0 and sum was the smallest? I got -6
