Do the released official multiple choice questions. Memorizing stuff just doesn’t help anymore unless you are totally behind on knowledge. The new format almost eliminates the need to memorize the names and focuses a lot on using logic and inference. You need to know it.

Do you guys know if Animal Reproduction/ Embryonic Development, and Animal Body Systems are going to be on it? I’m too lazy to check

Ok so I have the barrons ap bio book (the newest edition) and I took the practice test, but theres no place for me to find out what my score was (1-5) … do any of you guys know a website link ANYTHING that can help me get a score for my practice exams.
IMO the point of taking a practice exam is to see what your score would approx be, and now I cant do that -_-

Does anyone have an AP Biology 2013 exam from CollegeBoard?

Why can’t they release a practice test before an exam never administered before?

Ask your teacher if he/she has a released version. Our teacher used the test for our mock. I found the new exam very logic oriented; there are a lot of graphs/tables/pictures that you have to interpret and come to a logical conclusion, especially on the multiple choice.

I think the essays test more knowledge though (and they do count for 55%).

There’s a rumor in our class that the released exam is floating around online (and one guy even got a 100% on the mock) but a lot of us can’t find it. :(

@disguy, do you know where to find the multiple choice questions?

The mock exam is in the new curriculum pdf file. The one that’s like 500 pages or something explaining what is on and isn’t on the test.

The mock exam has all the questions posted on the course description and more…

I think it is only available to teachers…

Depriving students of their needs…

^ Yes, that’s true. My teacher got a copy of the mock exam and made us all take it. She said only teachers that passed some kind of audit received the exam materials, though.

So it’s an exam different than the one posted here…? http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/ap/2012advances/AP-Biology_CED_Fall2012.pdf

Wow :(

Well, the mock exam did have all those questions from the course description on it… But it also had more than that.

Hello Everyone, my class just took a released practice exam from Collegeboard that our teacher administered for the 2013 AP Biology exam. The MC portion of the exam had hardly anything to do with memorization, but rather, logic, analyzing, and reasoning. You do have to know the big general concepts of biology, but not the small details. A single question often takes up an entire page, showing a graph or describing an experiment and asking you to predict or analyze the data/results. The questions have 4 answer choices (A,B,C, and D). As for the FRQ (2 long, 6 short) they were not too bad. They focused on large, broad concepts rather than small detailed things, so you shouldn’t have to worry too much about drawing blank on a question.

If you are wondering about the difficulty of the test, all I can say is I personally did not find it too hard. My class in general did not find it extremely hard. The class average on the MC was a 78, which for an AP test is pretty good. And the FRQ were scored pretty well in general.

The point of this post was the help anyone who was looking for a opinion, review, and details of the AP Biology exam. I am also a student just like most of you. This post was in no ways factual, but just my opinion. I hope this helped anyone trying to figure out what this test is like!

P.S. I use the Barron’s 2013 review guide for the majority of my studying, sometimes the Cliffs, but I find the Barron’s a little better in my opinion.

Well, I’m going to start my review Monday and hope for the best…

I will watch the Bozeman AP Biology videos and take notes for about 2-3 hours a day and then read the Cliffs for about an hour and a half. Maybe a 5 is conceivable, highly doubting it. :(

Well the thing with the new multiple choice questions are that they require far more analysis and ACTUAL understanding of the concepts rather than just the terms. Last year there were 90 straight forward mc questions. This year, they reduced it to 63. The new questions are all super long and for me, seem a lot harder than last year’s simple ones.

This test is going to be SO much harder. I feel like I’m going to bomb the grid-in questions. I always hated application questions, so this test is going to be the death of me…

I think the NEW version of the Barron’s is helpful, especially for a final review.

Does ANYONE have the new collegeboard released exam? I heard it was only released for teachers but has anyone found it online by any chance? Or if your teacher administered it to your class, would u be able to take pictures and send it to me because my teacher said she was not going to give us any practice test!! HELP

http://schools.csd509j.net/CVHS/staff/cornelp/APBiology/APBPracTest.pdf

^ the released practice exam from college board for the new exam^

Your welcome.

The new test is a lot harder…there are questions which you can answer without having any prior knowledge of biology that are purely graphs alone. Studying the labs helps

I’m extremely nervous for this AP test, but I do agree with the above poster. I think studying the essential labs will be extremely useful. I am also going to review biotechnology, ecology, and gene expression in detail.
