*** Official AP Biology Thread 2012-2013 ***

Your comparing apples and oranges. This is science.

Oh, well, yeah, for those you will want to write full essays. That doesn’t apply for any science or math APs though. Always separate your parts clearly.

Does anyone know what the most important things to study are? and what to not really look at?

GREAT NEWS! I was informed about this website called shmoop.com that has sample tests for the new format test. I don’t know how accurate and official they are as the collegeboard doesn’t want to release any of theirs but it gives you a good idea of what the math sort-of free response grid is (chi squared, etc.) if you haven’t done it in class already.
I found a code that will give you access to the resources temporarily (until June 30) but for free.

This is the specific link, and then make new account and type in GLENDALEROCKS

I’m going to review the subtopics that I struggled with in the Campbell Biology book as well as the labs. Saturday and Sunday night I think I’ll barrel through the REA Crash Course and take another practice test.
This is nerve-racking. Why did they redesign the curriculum this year @__@

Has anyone tried the online practice test that comes with the REA Crash Course book?

Does anyone have a link to the new biology practice exam that was released?
I can’t find one that works.

Is there more than one new practice exam?

Any link to the test?

Started studying today…

48/63 MC and 6/6 grid-ins on a Barron’s test.

Can I trust it?

Also, to whoever asked about the labeling thing, in AP Chemistry you have to label the problems as well, with 1a, 1b, 1c etc. Chemistry is annoying in that theres also 1ai 1aii 1aIII etc

@Mediclalboy, that’s not bad, but the only accurate test is the ONE released by the collegeboard that I did in class. It has about 1-3 questions per page (really thick) because its based on diagrams and charts so much. Today I’m going to look at other practice tests, but the questions are easy, a lot on hardy weinberg, a little on organelles, the one released by the CB had almost nothing on organelles.
On that I got 45/63 and 5/6 on grid (silly mistake)
Does anyone else no which one I’m talking about, you can’t say any specifics as its not released, but no one seems to have done that one. The Barron’s have good practice problems but the tests are not accurate, Princeton Review has a little bit more accurate tests, but I would have been given those if they were accurate.

I don’t think Princeton is reliable even on the practice tests. I think Barron’s used CollegeBoard’s test to model theirs. Anyway I also have cliffs but does anyone know how reliable those tests are?

ALSO, my teacher won’t let me take the test home to review. If I could, it would help me SOOO much…

Collegeboard is VERY careful. I can find anything on the internet, and I can’t find anything of the CB that hasn’t been officially released. Cliffs is just bad, I got it as it was a mandatory book (probably from ten years ago no one bothered to change), and just now looked at it, and the practice questions model the old tests, vocabulary and memorization based, so if you want to review material, it will help, but for test practice, which is what you need, it won’t do much. Even the shmoop website I mentioned is significantly differernt in terms of multiple choice, grid ins and essays are kind of similar. It was a good find, but nothing too great.

Wow! Thanks @jonhs
I am feel so unprepared about this exam by the way my teacher has been “teaching”. We’re basically her guinea pig class so she knows what to improve on next year. I might even go all out #yolo and draw on the frq.

What do you guys think is gonna be on the frq this year? ><

Hey I tried clicking that link but it’s not working anymore. Is there any other way I could get to the test?

Edit: Here’s the link

http://schools.csd509j.net/CVHS/staf...PBPracTest.pdf

So is anyone else going to watch YouTube videos all of Sunday to glean last minute ecology information?

That link isn’t working anymore…? Do you know any other place that has the pdf?

I’d like that too. Anyone?

Does anyone have a clear way to approach the essays?
