OFFICIAL AP Calculus BC 2012 Test Thread

Yeah that’s what I thought you meant at first. But still, thanks for the tip.

@jesskidding I think so, it is differential equations and is part of AB.

But how often will it appear on the test? Like…are there going to be a lot of questions on it? By the way I don’t believe it is part of AB

Hmm… differential equations generally don’t cover a significant portion of the test. There may be 2-3 multiple choice questions about them, and maybe 1 FRQ, but that’s probably it.

Sorry, I meant exponential growth…

Exponential growth is a sub-topic of differential equations (like logistic differential equations). When I mentioned DE’s, I was also including all questions having to do with exponentials.

BAH series are the worst D:
Guys I’m going to fail.

^ You won’t - trust me on this. The curve for this test is very generous.

The formulas for exponential growth are dy / dx = ky and y = Ce^(kt), where k is a proportionality constant and C is the constant of integration.

one hour before test…nervous

Good luck everyone!

To quote The Hunger Games: May the odds be ever in your favor! I was very fortunate that I got questions on relatively simple topics (I’m overseas and took the international version of the test).

One more hour–good luck everyone! See you on the other side (:

The calculator multiple choice section was more difficult than the non calculator section, I thought.

On the other hand, everyone I talked to thought the FRQs were ridiculously easy.

@ abigailyw: Huh, I guess the domestic/international MCs were similar. I felt the same way about the international version of the test - the calculator MCs definitely took more time and thought than the non-calculator ones. I think the main difference lies in the FRQs - while the international FRQs were by no means impossible, they were not “ridiculously easy” either.

how was it guys? Can we make a list of all the questions?

I took the bc w/ ab subscore and I thought the frq’s were really easy. I was hoping for a really simple 6th questions and it was beyond what I could do mechanics wise, same with a few other parts and mc questions dealing with intervals of convergence and euler’s method. Hopefully I’ll pick up a few points for writing down formulas, definitions, and associated logic. Really excited to see my score in july and even more excited to take calc 2 next year in college!

I got a five!! That exam was easier than I thought it was gonna be.

Sent from my SCH-I500 using CC

Easier than I thought. Hoping for a 5 after I failed AP Chemistry!

I wouldn’t advise making a list of questions now - there are still people taking the test as we speak, and you definitely don’t want to risk getting your score canceled.

Anyway, I’m glad to hear all of you did well! Let’s all hope for 5s.

For Free Reponse, was the interval of convergence -1< x <1 ?
