Okay, i took AP Chemistry last year. I think, it is generally a pretty easy test. The curve is more than lenient. I used Cracking the AP Chemistry - provided by my school. With enough practice, the test should be a breeze.

To practice - use the CHEMTEAM website
Other practice - past AP exam released information

But remember, you shouldn’t worry about the AP exam until March. At that time, you should be able to understand everything. If you understand everything, the good luck to you. Remember, they will never make the AP exam harder than the past, just worse curves if the test is too easy - other than the SAT, the AP is the best way to make money! They want to give you the 4+, so you will take more AP’s. They want to give that to you, so don’t worry if you mess up a bit.

Tips for the free response-
IF you mess up at the top and your time is running out. You know you can do parts B, C, and D. But, you have no idea how to do A. BS/Write a random answer for A. And use that random answer and do B, C, and D correctly. For that case, you get the points for B, C, and D. The only points you don’t get is A. Good luck!

btw my class was harder than the AP. I went A’s for both semesters and a 5 on the exam.

@MichalSR I think my teacher will be gone Januaryish and all the way through March. It is terrible timing!

In class, we finished intermolecular forces, using cooling curves to determine total energy required to change states, and now some stuff about crystalline structures.

On a side note, we need to keep this thread going. Anyone have any other study materials or websites?

We are so behind. My teacher says that usually, we should get finished chapter 10 (Chemistry The Central Science 11*AP Edition) before winter break. We go consecutively in the book and we are only on chapter 6… She said we wouldn’t be this behind if we had a summer assignment (Our school doesn’t allow summer assignments anymore, I don’t know why though) and hurricane Sandy cost us some days too. Now we are speeding through everything~! Eek!

It seems like I am moving incredibly slow compared to yall. My AP Chem class just finished gas laws and gas stoichiometry before Thanksgiving break and I think we are learning diffusion/effusion and molecular velocity after break.

Here’s is how my course has progressed thus far: chemical foundations (sigfigs, density, etc.); atoms, molecules, ions; stoichiometry; chemical rxns and solution stoichiometry; thermochem (my favorite part of chemistry); heating and cooling curves; atomic structure and periodicity; bonding and hybridization; interparticle forces; and finally gases.

We’ve finished the Honors Chem review chapters (1-4), the gas chapter (5), thermochem (6 and 16), and electrochem (17) before Thanksgiving break. Next we’re working on kinetics.

I’m taking AP Chemistry now and I find it to be quite easy. We’re doing buffered solutions. We’ve done gases, thermochem, and the equilibrium stuff so far.

@FantasyVesperia hahaahha I literally laughed when you said you cried.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure that my teacher doesn’t know what how to teach AP Chem. It’s literally like Honors Chem. At this point, I’ll probably get a 3. Does anyone know of any sites that I could get examples/explanations on?!

I took AP Chem last year and got a 5 on the exam no problem. My teacher was great and she had us focused in on the AP test the entire course. We did practice timed AP questions about weekly in class and our tests were comprised of all old AP questions and timed based on the number of questions as if it were the real test. It helped immensely! I recommend getting practice questions off Collegeboard and doing them as if you we’re taking the test and timed and under stress. The practice will spill over into the real thing and help you relax.

We’re going in order, and we’re a little more than halfway through Ch. 11 (Intermolecular Forces) in The Central Science. Finally beginning to get my grasp on chemistry back, but I don’t know how well the exam is going to go. I’m about to go buy PR, & probably figure out a study plan once it arrives.

^ We’re rushing everything now, we should be on chapter 9 by now, but we’re on chapter 6: Electronic Structure. Our teacher said that we need to get to chapter 10 before winter break.

Hi everyone. I took AP Chem last year an got a 5. If I have to suggest any review material, I would strongly recommend the Princeton Review, since it’s practice tests are very representative of the real test and the review material is very thorough.

Just supplement PR with more practice exams and you’re golden.

In my class, we take released exams as tests and use FRQs as homework sometimes. Is that a good review? Or at least better than doing problems from a textbook?
