Official AP Chemistry Thread (2014-2015)

@elizabetha1 In general really easy, just remember to drop the x in ICE tables and stuff if you have to do them on MC. :slight_smile:

Ok now all of this rate constant / rate of reaction talk is tripping me up

its not too much math, any math on there has nice, easy numbers. COllege board says they take away calculators so you canā€™t cheat using them since the test teaches your chemistry skills, not being able to do math should not affect your score too much. @elizabetha1

@elizabetha1 Yea itā€™s basic math, like 32/16 = 2 moles of O, stuff like that :slight_smile:

@SippinCoffee just read my post lol

Hereā€™s a guide to electrochemistry: http://www.smithstudents.com/AP_Resources_files/SG20electro_AP.pdf

what are all the conditions for STP?

FOR PEOPLE ASKING ABOUT RATE CONSTANT:
If you look at the Arrenius equation, k=Aeāˆ’Ea/RT, a lot of things change rate constant, but TEMPERATURE IS THE ONLY ONE YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT.

A changes based on orientation of the molecule, thus increased SA DOES increase rate constant, but you canā€™t change the SA of a molecule readily. So, this is pretty null and void.

The Ea is activation energy, which can reduced by a catalyst.

Guys, so average kinetic energy depends ONLY on temperature? Correct me if Iā€™m wrong :confused:

@shough101 Correct

Guys we are fine I just had a class mate ask me what constitutes as an Ionic bond.

temperature is the measure of average kinetic energy so yes

LOL @APScholar18

but sadly that doesnā€™t make me feel better

@APScholar18 Lol, just because heā€™s going to get a 1, doesnā€™t mean we have to XD.

That being said, I got around 85% on the practice exams our teacher made us do, so Iā€™m expecting a 5.

@shough101 Correct according to Kinetic Theory or something like that. BUT average speed on the other hand depends on molar mass or size or something. Donā€™t know the difference but thatā€™s just how it is, maybe someone else has an explanation for the why

stp is 273k and 1 atm

you wonā€™t need to use .5mv^2 on chemistry, thats more of a physics concept

thanks! and wait can you help me on no. 29 2014 Multiple choice? Thanks :slight_smile:

Oh man weā€™re all getting nervous as the night drags on. Try to sleep guys stress at this point will only hurt you

the higher the altitude the lower the pressure/temp right?
