***Official AP Language and Composition 2012-2013 Thread***

i put disdainful and disparaging… idk why there were rtwo such similar questions…

Is 40+ on the MC and 6+ on all 3 essays enough for a 5?

yes i think so.

appass.com

good tool… although they should make it 55 instead of 52.

People stayed up all night working on this? Astounding. Freaking out over an unofficial score lol.

@thingschange The ‘then’ question was the first question on the woman passage, which was the last passage in the section.

I put ironic because the line reference was the one where he was saying that the fish reproduce way faster after the human wars or something he wasn’t criticizing or belittling the fish… Maybe I’m referencing the wrong line lol

For the “then” question did you guys remember anything with the word “outcome” or “result” as one of the answer choices? Because the emphasizing the steps looked like what i put. Idk

Is this off topic, for the Christopher Columbia statue, I was trying to say that i’ve never recognized the statue before & money and time spent on a statue for nothing. And then I talked about the bronze statue by Johnson… How his work wasn’t recognized as well… Idk. Somebody any thoughts?

Page 6 has a conversion for the MC score for this year’s exam, which had 55 questions. According to Kiwiasian, the number correct you think you got on the MC is multiplied by 1.2272. Each essay is given a weight of 3.0556. The composite score cutoff for a 5 will most like be somewhere between 108 and 114, depending on how well we did this year.

So it’s ok that I forgot to number my last page of the q3 essay?.. It had the last half of my essay on it and it was chronological

What happens to my score on the synthesis essay if I forgot to cite the sources? As in, I quoted but didn’t put (Source A) or (Walters) or anything because I’m the biggest idiot on the face of the planet. My friends and I thought it would be reasonable to still give me around a 4 (I think without taking that into consideration, my essay was a 7). Do you guys think a 4/9 on the synthesis for not using citations would be likely? I think I did well enough on the MC to pass, so I’m not unduly worried, but I certainly hope they don’t give me a 1 or a 0 because of it.

@agitations My teacher told me the sole purpose of the synthesis essay is to show that in high school you have mastered parenthetical documentation, and that is why AP added the synthesis essay in the past years. I think you would get a 3-4 max IMO, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you also scored a 1.

But just if you happened to write your essay like this: “the photo…” and in “(authors) article…” that is correct documentation, but if not, your screwed.

No according to my teacher that used to grade AP tests and insists that he’s like the best Cuz he graduated from Oxford, if you don’t cite it you start out with a 4 because using any piece of work without citation is plagiarism. But the 4 is considering you have everything else in that essay perfect. If you failed to meet other requirements they will take more points off

schoolandstuff, i think you had the wrong line. ironic was for the arts passage, not the fish passage.
The theme of the arts passage was to depict an influential movement or something…
anyway, the one with Von Goethe and his past occupations… do you guys remember that question??

thingschange i thought the guy was actually being critical though

I thought optimistic.

Is this for the fish passage? What was the question for this?

bkkacyem… You were talking about Gautier right??
