i came into the test so confident id get a 5, and now id be lucky to get a 3.

oh and the electricity and magnetism test was not that bad… the first 2 FRQ were ok the 3rd one was impossible in my opinion i had no idea what it was talking about but most of the test was fair

I thought the MC and FRQ on the mechanics exam were crazy. Went in pretty sure I could get around 20/35 on MC and use the Free Response to get a 4. Pretty sure I got a 3…

@jchen97 thanks
I actually thought part d of number 2 on Form G was pretty hard. It asked to find the angle where the block would leave the loop. I had no idea how to put that into terms of M,H,g,and theta. I ended up skipping it. I’m really glad I didn’t have form O.
I wonder how they do the curves?

Also what was the coeff. of friction for the mc where the 3N force was on the top block?

I got the incredibly hard form for the EM. I was tempted to leave half of the test blank. I think that was the worst AP exam I have ever taken.

@KPGlobetrotter I believe it was .15?

How come previous years’ free response question on the college board site are only one set for each year? Is this the first year where they used more than one form or? Can someone explain.

For form O, second frq, did we even need the moment of inertia to find w? I just divided my answer for v by R

@superstarlala Oh i completely agree. I assume you had form O where #3 was literally impossible. How the ■■■■ do you graph a constant ? Other than that, I thought the MC was a lot harder than the ones posted in that other link, but i still expect 25. Mechanics was easier than I thought, and i know i got a 5 there.

Say what was the answer to the resistivity problem? I remember like .16 or something. They wasted 3 minutes of my time calculating trivial arithmetic on those scientific notation problems.

@jchen97 Argh. I had that and then changed it to .10 because the frictional force was causing the acceleration of the 4 kg block so if the whole thing was accelerating at 1/2 m/s^2 (since the external force was 3N, and total mass was 6kg), wouldn’t f/4=.5=(2kg)(g)(u)/4
so wouldn’t u=.10?

I definitely thought the mc was tricky. The magnitude of the momentum of the (2m) moving north at 2m/s and the (m) moving east at (3m/s) so by using the Pythagorean Theorem I got 5 kgm/s as the magnitude of the total momentum.

I thought form O EM was pretty easy, at least easier than last year’s test. Apparently form G was bad though.

@lolifofo they always have multiple forms for every exam. Some are experimental questions for future exams and others are just to dissuade cheating. I think form O was the experimental. There was another form that my frined had with a potential energy graph for the 1st FRQ.

Wow people are incredibly obnoxious on there.

For form G Mechanics,
2.a v=sqrt (2GH-GH -GHsin(theta))

My thoughts:
Mechanics (Form G): MC was easy, FRQ#1 was an easy 15/15, FRQ#2 was impossible and FRQ#3 was OK.
E/M (Form O): MC was kinda hard, FRQ#1 was really easy, FRQ#2 was alright, and FRQ#3 was ■■■.

Yup, didn’t take E&M, but Mechanics 1 was material that should’ve been on a calc test, not physics and was a joke. 2nd one was definitely the hardest. I had no idea how the hell you were supposed to find out when it fell. Third one just tested your knowledge of Newton’s Laws and Torque.

@KPGlobetrotter my thoughts exactly. Though i walked in hoping for a 4 as i did not study AT ALL. but i walked out pretty sure i got a 5(: also for question 3, i didn’t even use torque or the moment of inertia? for w wasnt it just v/30R

One of my FRQ was about a rocket in an orbit and then it does a an impulse and you had to like calculate what was the kinetic force. Couldnt understand anything

Did anyone else think Form O for Mechanics was particularly brutal?

How different will the curve be between the hard form and easy one for E&M?

I didn’t know how to do Biot-Savart. The only part I could do on 3rd FRQ is the third one and the second one(with sequitur points as I didn’t know the first part)
