hey everyone, I know you guys are all busy and alll b/c of your own ap’s etc… but, I was wondering how do i get from a high 4/ very low 5, to a definite 5! like i consistently on the past practice ap test I get like 75-85 mc and almost 50% FR. So, i know i have to fix FR but how! And also I dont want to get a high 4, I WANT A 5 !

THANKS YA’LL

@ackattack: Study. Common sense and a basic knowledge of the terms will get you through like 80% of the MC. The rest, like brain part functions, are going to be rote memorization. For the FRQs, take a look at any of the previous years’ FRQs on the collegeboard website, try them out, and compare your answer to the scoring guidelines.

Do you guys know of any online practice tests I can take? My Barrons book only has two practice exams and I want to do at least three…

Also, any tips for reviewing all the Barrons information over the next day days (I have read through the entire book already)? (I’m self-studying…)

hey guys, here’s a question from the 1994 exam on AP Central:

A person is asked to listen to a series of tones presented in pairs, and asked to say whether the tones in each pair are the same or different in pitch. In this situation, the experimenter is most likely measuring the individual’s

(A) sound lacalization ability
(B) dichotic listening ability
(C) difference threshold
(D) echoic memory
(E) attention span

The answer is (C), but I chose (D). Didn’t the question say the person listened to a SERIES of tones, and so was testing how much he would distinguish at the end of the series? I mean, where’s the change in one sound that would establish this as a difference threshold thing?

@cricket123 here’s the 1994 exam: <a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board; and here’s the 1999 one: <a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board;
^ I don’t think what they’re asking is “can he remember the pitches?” but rather “can he distinguish between the pitches?”. I agree that you have a solid argument, but C is definitely the correct answer.

Starting my studying tonight. Weekend endeavor. Though psych is only a memorization test.

@jasonjackson

Best answer is C. The specific design of the test suggests that they are testing difference threshold.

hey cakewalk, im doing the same. What materials are you using?

Started reviewing tonight with the Barron’s book my friend let me borrow! I’m not worried though, I think it should be pretty easy and I know the material fairly well. Good luck to all of you (:

Yeah, I am self-studying and I read REA Crash Course 3 times yesterday. It was my first time looking at psych. Nevertheless, I got 129/150, a 5, in one day of prep with a bare bones guide. Psych seems to be easier than human geo. I think i might read Barron’s to fill in the gaps. The only MCs I get wrong are stuff that is not in REA. Hopefully the test isn’t too bad.

You prob scored high on the REA crash course practice exam because that test is focused on content in that book. you will have to know more than just what is in that review book. that’s why its called a review book.

I didn’t take the REA, I took official college board 2009 :P. REA doesn’t come with one. I took 2 PR and the college board. 100/150, 120/150, and 129/150 were my scores. On the college board one, 10/13 that I missed were not in REA so I studied Barron’s today.

Hey, imsoambitious, I took the course, so I’m using class notes. We’ve done some review with 5 steps to a 5. We also used the Wayne Weiten psych book, but there’s definitely not enough time for you to go through a textbook.

SURPRISE REVIEW QUESTION. GO!

Alzheimer’s may be caused by a deficiency in
a) GABA
b) acetylcholine
c) serotonin
d) dopamine
e) glutamate

B! hsdjjdsjhsdfjhgdfsjhdfjshjhgfsd

And thanks for the ideas cakewalk, but I think I’m good. I’ve committed REA entirely to memory, and I’m working on Barron’s right now. I’ll be taking a few more practice tests and the Collegeboard FRQs tomorrow. Maybe a quick review as well. Morning of the exam, I will review REA, a cram packet, and a list of things that Barron’s has but REA doesn’t.

I just started studying today… I scored in the 90s for my MC, would that be sufficient for a 5? Does anyone know what the typical 5 range is for psych?

Hey guys! I have a question about the frq part…Should I label my “essay” with (a) (b) (c) etc. and underlining key words or should I write a REAL essay essay?

Cake walk, I think it’s dopamine. Is that correct? And @ambitious where did you find that official practice test?

Never mind it’s B lol
