Official AP US History Thread 2012

@AdrLan thank you very very…

So does anyone have any idea what could be on the exam for intl. students (paper 2?)

I’ve heard the testers like to do celebrate anniversary’s and all that sha-zam with a nice essay about it.

ALSO,

labour unions. damn, so much to remember, anyone have any tips or the bare minimum I should know?

And how many court-cases should I know too, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed on the specifics :(

Probably just some overarching Marbury vs Madison (judicial review), and famous ones like Brown v. Board.

I’m such a slacker… just started AP prep. Good thing I’ve read the American Pageant for tests even though most people in my class didn’t. What books are you guys using? Is Direct Hits recommended? I’ll probably need an AMSCO asap - first result on google is a PDF but I hate reading on the computer. :/

Is it important to listen to all the podcasts for essential content? I’m cramming too, and am just reading the notes every chapter

I am absolutely terrified…

that is all…

Ugh I just purchased the Barron’s APUSH book and I started some chapters on it. I made the mistake of reading the reviews… people said it was very unreliable.

I’m not even sure what to study now!

Do you any of you guys read the Newman book? I may just start reading the Newman book b/c it goes more into detailed then the Barron’s book. No way am I going to read the American Pageant text book again!

hiiiii im kinda a late addition lol but i started studying 1.5 weeks ago >.< but i have chem too! i didnt even start chem but apparently the curve is really good. On the other hand, I heard the history curve is absolutely horrible? no one really gets a 5 in our school but everyone gets a 4… I REALLY WANT THE 5, especially because I’ve been studying like a madman for it for the past few weeks, and ive busted my butt for the last 2 years.Im not studying off of a book like princeton review or barrons… is that bad?

question: for the open ended essays, is it 4 paragraphs or 5?

^The USH curve is 67%=5, so don’t worry about that.

As for the essays, either way should be fine as long as you completely address the prompt.

I have a final soon, and I know that one of the questions on the test is: "What was the most important commodity in the 17th century?: Can anyone help me find this test either online, or perhaps in a review book such as Princeton Review or Barron’s? It would be so very helpful. A PM if you knew would be extremely lovely~

So you want us to help you cheat?

Edit: I see you posted here as well

Well i mean i have an 89.6 in the class, and getting an A on these APUSH tests that my teachers hand out is downright impossible. Getting an A on the final would be exponentially harder. I really need this A to bump my grade up to an A. Besides, it was my teacher who had given me that question privately when I asked him for some tips for the test!

So basically, your justifications are:

 1. The class is hard, so I HAVE to cheat
 2. He gave me ONE question on the test, so he implicitly accepts me knowing ALL the questions, if I can find them

Bro, I dunno what your deal is with me. I posted here because I needed some help to help me ace my finals. I didn’t ask for your self righteous, justification crap. Are you trying to send me on a guilt trip? Really I don’t understand your point in posting, if you have no intention in helping me out.

Our school just went through a cheating scandal, and I’m sort of sensitive right now to this type of behaviour.

But go ahead. Someone here will probably help you anyway.

Depends on what important means. Does it have to be vital or everyday kind of thing? But I would have the say the commodity that had the most impact in the 17th century was sugar. Sugar was a luxury in Europe. The discovery of the new world made it far easier to produce large quantities of sugar. Sugar eventually became a more common and tasty commodity. It also brought along with it the slave trade, development of South America which would then lead to the development of NA, and on and on.

If you go online and look up the 17th century, you will find plenty of information about it.

thanks for the reply, eagle94, but generally i was more looking toward to finding the actual test that had that question

Does anyone know where I could find audio of a review book? I the AMSCO book but i get through like 2 pages and fall asleep D:
** preferably one like AMSCO in terms of detail

falling asleep while reading a textbook? tsk tsk tsk… :D

 1. you could go to the sparknotes prep guide: [SparkNotes: SAT Subject Test: U.S. History](<a href=“SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides”>SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides) and copy it into a TTS engine: [Text To Speech, TTS: English, Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, German, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese](<a href=“Text To Speech in a Variety of Languages and Dialects Voices”>http://text-to-speech.imtranslator.net/)

 2. you could get a more interesting book (Direct Hits all the way) and supplement with podcasts: [Podcasts | Insider Test Prep](http://insidertestprep.com/resources/podcasts/)

 3. you could take notes on the book to stimulate your mind (I have to do this for EVERYTHING I read)

 4. you could suck it up and scold yourself. whatever works of course.

KPaaaa, that happened to me, and then I figured out the only reason I keep falling asleep is because I keep reading it when I’m tired.

History’s interesting if you just do it when you’re more awake. Try to imagine the images. Read out loud.
I BELIEVE IN YOU.

ap exams are way tooooo soon. I feel like I don’t know enough and I don’t have enough time and I haven’t taken that many practice tests and I can’t do this ugh I hate school and everything and I think I might cry
/life

im still on wwii and i have to start studying for chem and calc … im screwed? i think so! yay…

guys, just think about it this way: time FLIES by, and before you know it, you’ll be out of that testing room whether you think you got a 1 or 5. then u can party all day every day til july, when you get the scores. if you get a 5, your party goes on. if you get a 1, carpe diem, right?
