@2redpartyhats and @lemons8 you two are great! made my day(: thank you both for your help. there is truth and hope in each of your posts! thanksss LET THE CRAMMING BEGIN :p

btw lemons8 it seems like you have very good study skills and remember we are ALL(generally at least) in freak out mode. I think i’ll have to put all my other classes on hold while try to learn what everyone else learned in a year…in 11 days D: sigh YOU CANNNNN DO IT THOUGH LEMONS!(:

I’m sure this has been asked before, but what books are you guys using that you find are helpful? I’ve been relying on purely reading, and Barron’s SAT US History (I know, I know, not AP D:) for an A in that class…

Since there’s less than 2 weeks left, I’d suggest: GET THE CRASH COURSE BOOK! Lol. REA… It’s pretty good… There’s hardly any BS that you have to read through.

Only using my PR prep book for the MC this week, shortly after the SAT 2 on the same subject. Considering reading through 100 pages of handwritten outlines written over the course of the year.

@kizzles: 1600s? Easy, tobacco. Sugar was more along the lines of West Indies/Carribeans, eagles94. Why tobacco? Well, let’s find out. Arguably, the most important commodity would make the country wealthy and would have cultural/social impacts. Richest state? Virginia. What did they do? Grow tobacco. Tobacco was grown all over the South in the Piedmont areas, the tidewater, all that jazz. And how did it get shipped overseas? Through the New England ports. Commerce is one of NE’s key sources of income, and quite a bit of tobacco went through their ports. Social impacts? How about importing slaves up until 1807 in order to grow and pick tobacco?

I bought rea’s crash course book for apush like a week ago and its so helpful, informative, and concise. Anyone know how close it is to the actual exam? I’m not sure how much I can rely on this. :/

@Robskie: Bewhiskered Forgettable Presidents. I’d say watch out for tariffs, and note that Cleveland is the only Democratic president during that time. His response to the Pullman strike is something else of note. Credit Mobilier under Grant, free and unlimited coinage of silver, Compromise of 1877 - Rutherfraud vs Tilden (end of reconstruction), Garfield’s assassination in order to place Arthur (conflict between Half Breeds and Stalwarts)

There’s definitely more that one should know from that chapter. The Pendelton Civil Service Reform Act is a very significant piece of legislation, probably the only one of its era to have a large impact on the rest of American politics. You should also know about James B. Weaver and the rise of the populists, William Jennings Bryan’s “Cross of Gold” speech, and the 1896 presidential election.

Union activity was also notable during this time, so understanding not only the Pullman strike, but also others, such as the Haymarket riot, and especially the Homestead Strike. It would also be good to know something about the AF of L and Knights of Labor, and how each differed.

The Chinese Exclusion Act is also a notable piece of legislation that is largely self explanatory. There’s probably more than that that you should know, but again, to get a five on the AP US exam is not hard and only requires little more than 60%.

Other than that, I think you should probably be fine.

Quick question, DBQ requires solid thesis, but unlike ap world essays, we do not need to analyze Point of View or Additional Documents, right? Basically, thesis, historical background, and analysis of docs is enough? thanks.

What is the most important stuff to remember about with art and literature? I know just off the top of my head Thomas Paine’s Common Sense, Frederick Jackson Turner’s Frontier Thesis, Hudson River School, Harlem Ren, Lost Generation, and Rock n Roll from the 60s.

What are some more major people and major events I should know? I feel like this is my weakest area next to major acts. ._.

How is everyone here preparing for the DBQ’s and essays? I feel fine about mutlipule choice but am literally scared shiz less for the essays. Should I look through good essays from AP Central? Need help urgently. :/
