***OFFICIAL AP US History Thread 2013-2014***

Is anyone else using the American Pageant??

Has anyone found a good way to study for tests? There’s just sooo much information.

Flashcards, flashcards, and flashcards.
Also pipi, everyone uses the American Pageant lol.

My school uses Out of Many, 3rd edition sophomore year and then the 6th edition junior year (APUSH is a two year course).

I bought the first Dominate book. it is all videos with writing on the big picture. it is perfect. my teacher is ok but the videos are much better and i’m better at getting things by listening instead of reading. the website is [AP US History Videos](http://www.apushistoryvideos.com)

Why is all of a sudden AMSCO APUSH getting such a bad rap? Did it really change the Bill of Rights? Everyone check out the Amazon reviews they are going crazy!

It used to be the highest rated book, now it is getting hundreds upon hundreds of 1-Star ratings in just a couple of days!

Was the author trying to subliminally influence us?! Think of all of the people who used this book for APSUH… Scary…

oh no not the bill of rights, without the exact wording your chance at a 5 is down the drain

Wait, [late response] what?? I got the AMSCO pretty recently, and it seemed pretty good (I haven’t had the time to actually look through it). Until recently, at least, everyone was complimenting the book… I’m so confused…

EDIT: Wait. okay. This is a stupid controversy and the book’s still as legit as ever.

I made a 5 on the AP US test this past spring. Here are a few tips I’ve given to others:

-pay attention! This is essential.
-read the text book. Your teacher may skim over some things. The AP test doesn’t care.
-get some type of review book. I used a Fast Track to a 5.
-get other books. I read American History in 100 Nutshells twice.
-take practice tests. I’m sure your teacher has many.
-make your DBQ perfect! The DBQ can make or break you.
-let the MC keep you afloat though.

Good luck!

I should also mention that it fairly dependent on your teacher. Five people in my class made 5s.

This book is FREE t his week- Dominate AP US History. I’m doing great on the tests because all I do is watch the videos. On the ibookstore. You don’t need an ipad now if you download os x mavericks for apple computers you can now view ibooks on your apple. search for dominate ap us or the website is [AP US History Videos](http://www.apushistoryvideos.com)

This is the most entertaining AP social studies material I’ve studied. You gotta love the wordplay and jokes the authors put in the American Pageant. I really learned to admire those men in white wigs, who knew what to say that would make someone look like a total buffoon.

Am I in the only class that uses Garraty’s The American Nation?
[The American Nation: A History of the United States: John A. Garraty, Robert A. McCaughey: 9780060422981: Amazon.com: Books](http://www.amazon.com/The-American-Nation-History-United/dp/006042298X)

I took APUSH a while ago (got a 5 without any real effort or review books, but that’s just because I’m really, really into American history), but one nice way to go over the material that I found when studying for World last year was the [Crash Course History](<a href=“The Black Legend, Native Americans, and Spaniards: Crash Course US History #1 - YouTube”>The Black Legend, Native Americans, and Spaniards: Crash Course US History #1 - YouTube) series on Youtube. It’s no replacement for the textbook, mind you, but it’s got great edu-tainment value, and summarizes everything important pretty well.

Hey guys, just jumping on the bandwagon. Doing APUSH alongside my school’s Honors USH so I can take the test. Though I’d say Hi!

I agree, Crash Course is very helpful.

Did I kill the thread?

What unit are you on? We’re on unit 5/9; Civil War and Reconstruction.

APUSH Final was very hard.
I wish I found this thread earlier.
The videos would have helped me. A Lot!

I posted my study guide here, maybe it will help someone else.
It took quite a long time to make.

Our book is

Good luck to those studying for APUSH Mid Terms

@Ch1746 Dang, you guys are so much farther along than we are. We just finished the time period leading up to the Civil War. Our winter assignment is on the Civil War, though.

My APUSH final was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be. We’d already seen most of the questions on previous tests and he gave us the FRQ prompt ahead of time.
