***Official AP World History Thread 2014-2015***

AP Exam scores are not a big factor in college admissions. They’re used to grant credit once you’re in college. By taking the AP course (and getting an A) already proves that you’re taking rigorous courses in high school which is what really matters. Good luck and don’t dwell over it too much. A lot of my friends who got 3’s are really happy about their score.

I studied for about a full month for the exam (not including the actual class which i took for one year). I was aiming for a 3 but ended up with a five. None of my essays were more than 3 pages (the shortest being a page and a half). I thought the CC was easiest and the DBQ was the hardest. I feel like you’re more likely to get a higher score on the essays if your keep things short and simple. The AP graders don’t like sitting through extremely long essays. So, think quality over quantity when writing!

Been following this thread for a while, congrats to everyone with their scores! I ended up with a 3, which is really bothering me. I thought I got at least a 4, because for me the test was very easy, and I felt that on every part it was not challenging in any way. A 3 qualifies at all of the schools I’m looking at applying to, but considering I want to be a history major, it’s very embarrassing to receive only a “qualified” score.

I feel like I didn’t answer enough MC questions correctly to get a 5. My essays touched upon almost every requirement for points,. Oh well :-<

I had a nightmare a week ago that I got a 2 and that my mom left upon finding out, but today, I checked, I got a 4, I screamed, danced, and promptly ran into a door frame in my excitement. My mother wants to make muffins in celebration, she’s a horrible baker, but I’m satisfied. Just want to congratulate everyone that took the test, because that’s a feat in itself. Really proud of you all!

I got a 4, but my goal was to score a 5. I did well on all the mock ap practice exams (I took 6 practice tests) and always scored 5/9 or higher on my essays in class (my teacher was an actual AP FRQ grader a few years ago). I have the highest grade in my class (97%) and I studied a lot. I went through the Barron’s book and the beginning of the Princeton book.

I felt not so confident about the MC on the exam (but I always feel like that after tests. I felt the same after the
SAT and ACT but scored a 2370 and a 36). I felt really good about the essays (I felt like I hit enough points to score at least a 7 on the DBQ and at least 4’s on the other 2).

Someone else I know who took it last year got a 5, and typically, I score the same if not higher (usually higher) on tests than this person.

Should I rescore? I mean, I’m not going to become a history major or anything, so it’s not the most important, but usually I tend to get the top test scores out of my class, so this is a bit unusual (though history is one of my weaker subjects). And I’m a little salty about it.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know when the sample responses and scoring come out on ap central for the frq’s? I just wanted to look to see how other people answered the question and how our essays were graded.

End of July/Beginning of August

Is it weird that at my school we had two different versions of the tests, with two different sets of essays, yet I only ever hear people talking online about the set with the influenza DBQ, CCOT on labor systems, and Compare and Contrast on trade networks?

I got a 5! I screamed so loud when I saw the score because that feeling you get when all your hard work and all the sleepless nights finally paid off is so good. I have major test anxiety and I tried really hard to block out everything about the exam after I took it. The DBQ was pretty easy but I felt like I didn’t do the POVs as well as they should’ve been. The CCOT was really similar (if not the complete same) as one I had written in class and gotten a 7 on so I’m pretty sure that was my best one. I wrote and studied a lot of trade networks so the Compare and Contrast had an easy prompt too but since it was the last essay and I was tired I don’t think I did that well. I wrote stuff that didn’t answer the prompt and didn’t really compare anything, just described two trade routes. So I think I did really well on DBQ and CCOT and got a 2 or a 3 on the compare and contrast. Overall this class has been really fun and interesting to me, especially since I have a passion for history. I’ll be honest, I stopped caring about honors chem this year because I liked this class way more. Now on to AP Bio and Calc AB. Good luck to everyone in their future AP classes!

Got a 4. A little bit upset since my teacher is an AP grader, he’s great, and I was one of the top students in his class. I did well on the MC and DBQ, but I sort of messed up the CCOT and CC. The prompts were so general that I didn’t make a huge effort to be specific and actually write a good essday. I kind of just wrote a bunch of random stuff. Plus I was really tired. I just feel like I didn’t try my hardest on that test. I’m a little embarassed now, my teacher is probably a bit surprised with my score. Most of my friends got 4s or 5s.
