@athenanv13 There’s an online score calculator (http://appass.com/calculators/world) that graphs a lot of information specific to a few tests (I believe WHAP uses the 2002 and 2007 curves). You can enter MC composite scores and essay points and see what the minimum is to achieve the score you want.
I’ve played around with it a little, the requirements for a 5 aren’t that difficult.
It also has score calculators for a ton of other subjects too!
Love the cram packet suggested- I was getting really frusterated with the review book because I knew most of the stuff mentioned but needed more detailed info for the essays.
Also, I know this has been mentioned, but John Green’s Crash Course is amazing. I’ll probably try get through the cram packets this week and focus on Crash Course next week.
I’d like to join some kind of group. I self studied AP world. About to finish the textbook but I haven’t written a single essay. Basically I’m totally screwed, but I feel like some kind of group might help me get a 4 maybe? Obviously a 5 would be best, but it doesn’t look so good, considering last year’s percentages!
I used Barron’s and I got a 5 with ease. Barron’s is definitely the best for me. There was a lot on the exam that was directly stated in the book (like, same wording/phrasing… it was great!)
I also got an 800 on the subject test just from reviewing over Barron’s and notes from my class. The questions didn’t necessarily require a huge outside knowledge of small details. Basically just major trends.
As of now, I know everything up until 1450 CE (What I’ve reviewed from last year) and from 1912 to the present (what I’ve done recently in actual class). I just have to fill the huge gap now, fun! If the grade calculator thing is accurate, you can get 60/70 MC right and 3/4/4 on the essays for a 5… that’s what I’m shooting for, I guess! Good luck to all of you guys, hopefully there will be more people on the channel that @bellavisto started so that we can review together and share helpful sources we find on the internet (wink wink). Cheers!
Also, I personally believe the CCOT is going to have something to do with religious syncretism/ cultural diffusion in regards to trade routes or possibly colonization/imperialism efforts of Western Europe in China/India maybe. The CC I think there is a good chance that it’s going to deal with the role of women in classical or the contemporary period maybe dates like 1850- 1949, and a question like "Compare and contrast feminist movements that led to a change in the position of women from 1850 C.E - 1949 C.E in Two of the following world regions. -Western Europe, - The Americas, -East Asia. But all in all if you’re studying barrons you should be good, my class just did a released comm. Test similar to the AP: Exam format and I got a 5 on the mock by just utilizing the barrons book and practicing some essays that have been on previous exams that the college board releases on their website.
I took a practice test at rea.com by using a code provided by a Crash Course Review Book I bought, and I got 48/70 on multiple choice, gave myself a 4 on two of the essays and a 3 on the third one. I composite score was around 64, so I got a 4. What should I do to improve? And has anyone studied the Crash Course Review Book?
My teacher is a reader in Utah for the exams, and he went over some prompts he thought were possible, in addition a prompt of women hasn’t been done yet and is extremely important in world history.
I have so much material to study from because of all the work that we do in my class. I have 200 very detailed notecards that the teacher makes us do and all our assignment packets and essay packets. If I don’t get a 5 on this that means I’m just not trying hard enough.
I just did all of the Kaplan practice tests in a bookstore haha. I need to reread Barrons and read my PDFs of 5 steps to a 5 and Crash Course…and review all of the Get a Five videos…
