I applied for Economics and Spanish, but wrote my essay about having to learn English as a second language and falling in love with the syntax and linguistic part of languages and their power to convey words in a culture.
I think that sounds great! English is my second language, too!
Do you think I can send multiple essays and translations that I have done to them for my RD app? Do I still have a chance for RD?
I know exactly how you feel… I got deferred by 2 schools in 3 days this week and for one of them, I know I am qualified and I really want to go there. It is disappointing but I think you will get in! You have great stats! Just be patient and let the school know that you are really interested in them!
I’m not sure what the translation is about. But you can basically send in anything that strengthens your application, you need to let them know that you are still trying.
Thank you @Fiona1997
I will work on editing my essays this Christmas break and will try contacting Bard with emails. Thanks for bringing my hopes back up again! I really thought I didn’t had a chance, but I do! It is a pleasure having such supportive mates!
@reynairg you’re very welcome and good luck!
My S got an email acceptance! Very excited! No mention of aid and scholarships in portal at this point. Is that sent separately? Anyone hear about aid?
Got my letter yesterday! Beware: Bard does not send thick envelopes. When I saw a thin envelope, I freaked out because Bard is a target for me. But Bard is very hippie-like, so I get it. Congrats to everyone and good luck to RD-ers!
My D got accepted to Bard. Does anyone know when the aid info will come?
@Fiona1997 What town? I’m also from Western Mass. (Also accepted)
@ODonnell19 I’m from Westfield.
Have you all visited Bard?
What did you think of the campus and culture?
ClarinetDad16 - it’s hard for a student to get a real sense of the culture of a place in a brief visit. Feel free to PM me with specific questions - which I can bounce off my son.
@ClarinetDad16 I visited Bard! I really liked it, but my parents didn’t. The campus kind of looks like a camp grounds, very spread out and woodsy. The buildings are all older and plain and have artwork of the students hung up. Everyone was smoking, presumably because it was around the time Senior Projects were due/finals. Overall, I had a great visit–everyone was very artsy and we had a lot of intellectual debates/conversations with each other and staff members.
@missinquisitive - we toured it as well a few years back.
The spread out nature of the campus was unusual and the music facilities and performance hall are outstanding, even breath taking. The old mansion is also beautiful.
The student center was not great.
The location is at the furthest point from the city still accessible to the city…
And we too noticed the smoking and extremely artsy kids.
My music performance son didn’t find it a fit for him.
It was not my taste either.
Not all the buildings are old and plain, even if some are very old, and some are indeed plain! http://www.bard.edu/campus/reslife/
Check out these and tell me if they’re old and plain: http://www.bard.edu/campus/facilities/details/?id=36

Can anyone who was accepted read my Bard supplement?
I am an international student looking for a lot of aid, planning on applying to Bard College. i just wanted to ask if Bard could offer an international student a financial aid package of up to $59k, no matter how good the student is.
@ZainSD my mom is a professional college essay editor (and I was accepted)! Her email is judymwalters@gmail.com
