I’m so nervousssss
i can’t do any work D:

Yeah… Nowadays we have to apply as many as we could. We might set a heart in one particular college but what if that school doesn’t love you back huh! I personally applied 20 colleges. Up to now 12 decision already out , got in 4, waitlisted 5, denied 3. This week waiting for 8 more. Only stay on Wellesley waitlist, leaning toward pitzer w/ 45k scholarship and grants.

I was already accepted to mhc but I’m worried so much about my barnard admission…I visited them maaany times and scheduled my interview on campus in June 2012. but they say (formspring) that they don’t really rely on our interest (contacting them a lot, visiting them a lot etc) - they are more focused on making a class that will be a perfect fit for the college. they accept people who will contribute to barnard’s community.
I wrote something on this topic in one of my essays but I’m not really sure it was enough…so we can only guess how they will recognize people who are about to contribute to barnard.

Sigh… looking back, I don’t think my “why Barnard” short answer was very good. I wish I’d worked harder on the supplement.

Two more days!!!

I’m just a little worried. I got into 9 colleges so far, rejected at 1, deferred to 2 (Barnard and northeastern. I was later accepted to NU), and waitlisted at 1. I have about 9 more to hear from all coming this week. Hopefully everything works out :3

This is super late, but I did my supplement on Alexandra Feodorovna, the last Empress of Imperial Russia. All four of my essays were incredibly strong, I think. Probably the best essays I wrote for the college admissions process. I was really feeling the prompts!

@kaydsosa wow - I wasn’t even thinking writing about some one from my home country…I wanted to write about our poet Anna Akhmatova first but then switched to Ghandi, as my whole application is about politics…
Girls!!!I’m nervous!!!

@skvorcova thanks! and nope I’m from the US! ahhh I hope we all get in!

You mean indira Gandhi right? Because it had to be on a woman…

eeem of course indira, i know that it should be about a woman and I know that mahatma ghandi is definitely not…lol

@Skvorcova, are you from Russia? I wanted to write about Grand Duchess Anastasia, because my family is distantly related to the Romanovs, and I’ve always been curious about her life. I ended up choosing Margaret Mead instead, but there you have it. :)

@stupiddorkyidiot so why ddin’t you write about her?? you could show college your family history by this…have you ever visited Russia??? that’s sooo amazing!! You know people still here think that if the tzar’s family was not killed probably we would live differently these days…
by the way name is Anastasia as well and there is a wonderful cartoon here on history and Duchess Anastasia, every kid loves it here:D lol offtopic:)
I was born in Russia but I live in Belorussia sometimes now…

I totally should’ve, huh? I don’t really know why I didn’t. I haven’t visited Russia yet, but I’m planning on learning the language in college and hopefully studying abroad there! My sister will be in Ukraine for Pascha this year, and she’s really excited about it.

just wondering…how do your people think their lives would be different had the tsar lived? (I’m an IB history candidate so I’m just curious :P)

15 hours now…

Pascha(Easter in Russia) is amazing in Russia and Ukraine as well!!!
Well it’s interesting that russians think that we wouldn’t be so much corrupted if we had tzar… But, I don’t believe it. There was a very talented and famous Russian writer Saltykov-Shcedrin, who said almost 100 years ago:"if I fall asleep and wake up in Russia in 100 years, and somebody asks me, what happens in Russia right now, I will say that they get drunk and steal there, and I will be right…’

You know he said it like in 188… Something and he was so right!! People really drink non stop here now and steal money… So I think even with tzar Russia was a corrupted country if he was so sure in his observations and statements about future;(

12 hours !!!

8 hours guys!

Avalde4 I wrote about Suu Kyi as well, she is a very respectful woman!

This is the last women’s college I am waiting to hear from. Got wait listed in Wellesley and accepted in Bryn Mawr, quite nervous about Barnard! Good luck to all!

Ladies,

You are brilliant no matter what happens in three hours.

If you did not get in, it is because you simply will not enjoy this place as much as you will the one you get accepted to. In the next few days please follow Pangloss and Candide, and know that everything is for the best.

If you did, welcome! Please accept the offer and come join our community.
In front of you are a few horrible months when you just won’t be able to wait until you are here. You will try to decide all sorts of things in advance and post into your Facebook group incessantly. Oh well. Whatever you have (or will) imagined will definitely pale in comparison to reality. Barnard will be faster, sharper, more brilliant, and far more friendly than what you expect.
And a little shameless recruitment attempt for those who end up accepting the offer. At the end of your summer break you will have a chance to apply to Emerging Leaders Program. Please do. It’s year long program that will teach you to be a leader on campus (hands-on learning, too!) and introduce you to Manhattan’s leadership in January. It’s head is brilliant, and, albeit sometimes intimidating, always there to give you a hand. You will grow to love your team of ELP and all of its alumni you will meet. I promise it is amazing, and can’t quite put it into words how much I love it!

Everyone, good luck.
We love you all!
