I keep hearing that Barrons is the way to go if you want an 800 since the tests are much harder than the real ones.

However, I also heard its not really necessary. Would it be better to review via the Official book? Or should I just go with Barrons and do their tests and then benchmark myself with the official tests?

For math in particular, I don’t think their is a “best” test prep company, since pretty much all books cover everything. All of these test prep books are great, and with math it doesn’t really matter which you choose:
-Princeton Review (Not affiliated with Princeton FYI!)
-Kaplan
-Barrons

I’d go with PR if you are trying to learn what is on the test. Don’t go with Barrons until you think you are prepared unless you want to crawl into a corner and cry.

Barrons is unneccessary but it doesnt feel that bad when u are doing it, so i would recommend it. By the end of my studying, i could finish barrons w/ about 2-3 wrong and 4 blank (i usually didnt even have time to finish the last 4). On the actual test, i barely used my TI-89 and got an 800 with none blank and a lot of time left over.

When it comes to math, ALWAYS go with Barron`s. Their questions are harder, trickier, and force you to think in new ways, and so boost your performance much better than other courses and programs.
Official is good, but only as an auxiliary, to see how well you`re doing something close to the test.

EDIT: btw: the book you`re talking about is only 1 test in level 1, 1 test in level 2 :(

I agree with the above posters. I primarily used the following 3 test prep companies for Math II:
Princeton Review
SparkNotes
Barron’s

I found the Princeton Review book to be the easiest to read for reviewing the PreCalc topics. The chapters include almost every topic on the test.

SparkNotes’ tests closely resembled the actual Math II test I took in June. I finished all the tests in the book.

My score was mid to high 700s in the Barron’s book. It is definitely much more difficult as compared to the other books and the actual Math II test. I would recommend first reviewing with the PR book and completing at least the tests in that book and the SparkNotes book before moving on to the Barron’s book.

Thanks. I’ll just order the Official, Barrons and use Sparknotes.
I have a couple of Princeton Review books and I just looked over the detail compared to Barrons… Princeton Review is far too simple, so I’ll go with Barrons since I have a good math background already.

If you really wanted more opinions why don’t you search for past threads? There are literally tens of threads that asked exactly the same question.

a good thing to do is also go on amazon.com to see peoples’ reviews on the books you want to buy. that is why I bought my BARRONS math book level 2. soo good luck! :]

Edit: btw, even tho lots of people thought that Barron’s made a lot of mistakes, so far, I haven’t seen any mistake in my 8th edition book w/ the cd… so yea
