stefanieguo, you should call Brown admissions about your interview, or if there is a regional alumni group coordinating interviews, call them. You shouldn't let it just hang. I am sure admissions will help you if you tell them waht happened - you don't want to be tagged a no-show if there was a mistake somewhere.

jadalee, I feel the exact same way....I already sent out 13 schools and I have another 12 to go...

Crzy, you are overdoing it. You really should have narrowed that list down to at least half of that.

As for deferral acceptances, it depends on how they first perceived your app and what stopped them from giving you the early acceptance.

Yea, I realize that...parents are making me apply to about 6-7 of them, they figure i have a chance at them. The others are target or safe schools that I added before I retook my SAT's in Oct and after that I am still retaking in Dec, so yea, my SAT scores have triggered this paranoia

For the deferral, they would just reject you if you couldn't possibly improve the thing that they didn't like about you, like your rank right? I mean, that's what I figure.

btw, thanks for the response daveb =)

Deferral isn't necessarily because you need improvement somewhere. It could always be a spacing issue. But if they don't see you as someone who is right for Brown, they reject you.

Yeah, same. I realized I didn't have the amazing two-page extra-curriculars I could have had.

But whatever happens happens.

I hope that we all get in ED, but what are all of your second choice schools?

I have a pretty big list of other schools I'm applying to, and it took my awhile to decide on what my "second choice" would be, because after I found Brown everything else kind of went into the background. It's a big jump between 1 and 2 in terms of preference, but I'd say Duke is my second.

omggg, I'm so scared! I've worked soooo hard for this one decision. T_T Why does the world have to be so competitive? Does anyone know if the decisions come out on exactly Dec. 15 or around mid-Dec?
I have some other schools that I need to apply to, but I'm so mentally worn out and emotionally drained to do anything. I want this so bad sob I'm sure everyone else is the same way, but I'm so scared that I'm going to get rejected or deferred. omg, sobbbbbb

Brown's site says admissions will be available mid-December, so for online it's gotta be anywhere between the 15th and the following week, with letters arriving around that time as well (though those could take longer depending on how long it takes the mail).

My interview went great.

Now just to wait for my deferral/rejection.

Other schools....umm, I liked Northwestern and I applied for the Emory Scholars Program, but being from the metropolitan area (live in suburbs), I like one school in NYC.

As for the decisions, they do not send them any later than Dec 15th. I believe that the website says that.

December 15th, 2007
ED decisions mailed no later than this date

So expect them in the mail between the 17th and the 21st. Unless you get yours sent early.

My guess is, once you hit December 10th, start checking your application status if you want to see the decision online.

what does everyone think their chances are now that everything has been submitted?

I'd put my chances at 55% for ED.

I think I'm going to regret ever posting this. :/

Unless you have some ridiculous hook that's some mighty foolish thinking.

wuts the diff between deferred and rejected?

i havent been called for an interview yet, does anyone know whats up?

To Ailey:
Thank you for your suggestion! Actually I did send an email to the admission office after coming back from the cafe, where the interview should have taken place. They contacted me within 24 hours and told me to wait for rearrangement by the local coordinator. My interviewer contacted me yesterday and apologized for the failed interview. She was sick for three days. We will meet on this weekend again.
Wish I could show the best myself! And all Brown EDers here on CC get the acceptance letter!

Good luck to all the EDers!

Deferred means you are put into the RD applicant pool. You didn't make the cut for ED, but the commission hasn't eliminated you and they still think you have Brown potential.

Rejected means you are flat out, well, rejected. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.
