it’s down for me too

Okay it’s back up now. But no change is status >:(

server is back on line no news :(

Meteman: Nope, nothing like that… Those stats are real, and his class rank was 10/505. Had SAT II in Math of 800 too. He was admitted to UCLA with those stats (and declined to attend there) but he was waitlisted from Cal Poly with those stats. So the admission thing is kind of hard to predict…It didn’t bother him as it was never his first choice school, but I just wanted to warn others on the waitlist that their names MAY never come up…Last year when he applied, we noted a few students who posted on CC who were admitted but were ED, and they got admitted with lesser stats than my son. So I think, and this is just a guess on my part, that a lot of students with acceptable stats get admitted in the Early Decision round, and by the time the regular decisions are made, especially for popular engineering majors, there are not many spaces left for those students. Some students even admitted on this forum last year that they would never have been admitted during regular decision so that is why they applied early decision…

@meteman and @Rousse54-a good friend of mine was rejected at CalPoly and got in and now attends UCLA, she had excellent stats also. CalPoly is notorious for this kind of thing!

ACCEPTED!
Philosophy major
1220/1800 SAT
3.68 GPA/4.1 Weighted
I was emailed about my decision on the 22nd although somehow I am just now seeing it lol

What is hard about Cal Poly is that the acceptance standards differ so drastically from major to major. Some of the majors are a lot harder to get into than others. That is why Cal Poly makes it so difficult to switch majors that are in different colleges.

Any rejections yet?

ckr4282-no rejections that I have seen yet. Fearfully, I know they are comming soon. I hope I do not get one.

I am thinking my daughter being waitlisted to Architecture is just about the same as a rejection, as it is so impacted the odds will be very low in getting in. We are not going to give up until the end of April, but not going to count on it. It was a tough night last night after working so hard in high school to get a 4.51 gpa only to not be able to get into her first choice school because of all of the cutbacks in education in the state. My hope is that kids who are accepted, as soon as they make up their mind on their school, turn down the others to open up spots for others, and not wait until the end of April. I know I told my daughter that as soon as she rules out a school, she needs to let that school know ASAP. She was accepted to Chapman in digital arts with a very nice scholarship, and we are hoping for other offers as well, so at least we know she will go to a great school if nothing changes on Cal Poly, though architecture at Cal Poly was by far her first choice.

I agree with you robfixit. I am preparing for bad news the later it gets. When I saw your post about the waitlist, I thought “UHOH, here they come”. I am just hoping for the best but starting to make peace with my 2nd and 3rd choices. I know no matter what, somehow all will work out for all of us. It is a goofy and stressfull time for all.

Has anyone received an acceptance with a kinesiology major?

I have seen a kinesiology acceptance on this board somewhere.

FYI- I just spoke to admisions and the man I spoke to said they do not release acceptances/rejections in any particular order. He said they have 40,000+ applications this year and that notices are completely computerized- you just need to wait for the computer to get to your name to have have your status updated. I dont buy it since a computer could release all 40,000 notices within seconds, but I will take what hope I can get- LOL.

true that antsyantsy…my last name starts with a B, I applied Oct 15 ED and was deferred to RD. If that were true, I should be high on the computer list? ahahaha

@socalsr and antsyantsy,

It wouldn’t benefit him at all to lie to you about that. I live in SLO and go to Cuesta Comminity College and am waiting to hear back as well. I have talked to several of my friends who got in last year and a few said they knew of people who knew weeks before they did on their portal status. Its usually a three or four week process and they just started letting people know last week.

Robfixit: Well, don’t give up hope! Your daughter still has a chance. Last year my son actually got an email saying that if he chose, he could have his name taken off the waitlist, which kinda makes it sound like Cal Poly was looking for a way to eliminate names on the list. But my son was stubborn about it and even though he did not really want to go to Cal Poly, the whole waitlisting thing irked him enough that he did not want to make it easy for them. So he stubbornly kept his name on the list and late in the year his portal finally said something to the effect “you have not been admitted to Cal Poly”. Not a rejection exactly but not an acceptance either. I hope your daughter does get in since it sounds like she is way more than qualified. I sometimes think they do not accept students with your daughter’s and my son’s stats just because they think they can get in elsewhere and will attend other schools. Who knows, the admission thing at Cal Poly is mysterious…Who knows why they do what they do…I wish her luck and good wishes! She will be happy and do great no matter where she goes…kids really do end up at the school that is right for them.
