Major - Computer Science
GPA - 3.86 (10-11)
ACT - 35
EC - have a part time job not related to major, marching band all 4 years.

I haven’t heard of any computer science majors applying to cal poly for ED (or even regular decision for that matter) so I have no one to compare to. I feel like my ACT score will get me in if my GPA isn’t good enough.

me too lol, im hoping tht because of budget cuts, theyll decide to take more EDs this year. cause we’re the ones who really really wanna come to this school

mistariapotter: You got my excited when you said “theyll decide to take more EDs this year. cause we’re the ones who really really wanna come to this school.” haha. Didn’t read the first part.lol.

Bhyurf, I just cried a little. I applied ED for Comp Sci with a 30 ACT and a 3.9. You’re in over me, if anything. At least I know who to go after now! Just kidding. :D

I was as surprised as you guys are when I got my ACT scores back.
my highest SAT was not nearly that high (~2100 comp.)
I was scared to retake it with writing after that in case my first score was a fluke, so cal poly is the only school seeing that score. Luckily its my top choice :]

also, zungra, do you know anything about the difference between software engineering and comp science?
I put software engineering as my secondary.

omg i feel like just staring at Chuck bass or watching vampire assistant just to keep the stress off for there two days =.=! Ian Somerhalder <3!! sorry LOL, totally off topic. i kinda hope since this year states are getting budget cuts, they will take more early decision-ers! i think cal poly is more back up to yea lol ucla and ucb and also cal tech. but seriuosly tho, some people like harvey mudd more, but harvey mudd is so sorta expensive compared to cal poly LOL

dunno. I just hate how some people still think,“Oh, cal poly slo is just a state school, so easy to get into compared to UC’s” and so on. So then I usually advocate the school saying it has one of the best architecture and engineering programs in the nation and so on.

Bhyurf, I was confused about that myself. I looked that up myself, but I kind of forgot…I myself put down Computer Engineering as an alternate.

yeah. originally I was going to have software engineer as my first choice (that’s actually what first drew me to cal poly, it was one of the few schools that offered software engineering). But then I decided that computer science was a more general major that I figured could be applied to more careers than just software engineering. I have no idea if this is true, but that’s what I’ve decided :p

Hum, hello everyone. I have really low statistics for Cal Poly…
Got in SFSU though. i’m safe haha.

Major: Civil Engineering
Cal Poly GPA: 3.56
SAT (M+R): 1130

Came from France for my sophomore year, so unable to take any AP’s until this year. I have a 4.3 gpa for this semester! I wish they look at that.
Took some unusual classes like Ancient Greek and Latin.
Hm, i’m trilingual (French, Chinese, English).
Lots and lots of community services (1018 hours as of today), educational programs (Caltrans Summer Engineering Institute, College for Teens), and athletics (Captain and single one since my junior year). They don’t really look at those either…

Yeah. That’s about it. I wish I can get in and I hope you all, will as well. =]
Good luck everyone!

Cal poly does use 9th grade. On the application, you only write 10th-1th grade gpa. But when Cal Poly receives your application, they go back into it and recalculate it with 9th grade.
