Well… turns out I got deferred… well fuck me

So has anybody that’s been accepted gotten an email yet? Or do we not get that til later

@calpoly27 we are wondering same! Daughter has not received an email.

I can’t help but notice the difference in accepted stats for any engineering major. Have a D who will be applying next year RD, but stats for any engineering majors seems to be very high.

just to give a little hope to everyone who has been deferred. I know several people personally that went to cal poly or are going there right now that did not get in early decision, but they did get in regular decision. Their majors range from agriculture, mechanical engineering and architecture. So don’t despair yet, there is still another chance. And though some people on this forum say it is only a computer formula I don’t believe in that, they know in admissions cal poly is your first choice school and I think it will make a difference.

deferred for computer science

@collegeguma where do you see “early”? I confirmed my app said I was applying early decision…but my portal just says first time for admit type…am I missing something?

Does your application status say deferred??

@seal16: That’s absolutely correct and can often be higher in RD! Check out last year’s RD thread…

Those of you accepted WILL get an e-mail often with with a “Welcome to Cal Poly” video and that will come with time…(both S12 and D14 got one) be sure to check your SPAM e-mail. It has ended up there for many admitted applicants. Congratulations and welcome to Poly!

For those asking, your portal will say the same thing except the “early decision” part will be gone. Anyway, how do we accept that we wanna go there?!

this is what mine currently says, still don’t see “early”…“Thank you for applying to Cal Poly. We have received your application. No determination has been made at this time.”

That means that you’ve been moved to regular decision

@mkmb77: You have been deferred. No one gets rejected until after RD acceptances which come out Mid-Feb through Mid-March.

@leandraduke Everything is EXACTLY the same, except when I got to application status, the words “early decision” are removed from the sentence “Thank you for applying to Cal Poly for early decision” or whatever it sead

@alextoria If you no longer see “early decision” under your application status, it means you’ve been deferred. Good luck!

@Gumbymom Just wondering, does anyone get straight up rejected, or does everyone get deferred

@acealex123: No one gets “straight up rejected”, SLO likes to prolong the agony. They will start with RD acceptances around Mid-Feb until March and then finally the rejections. Good Luck to all that have been deferred.

Congratulations everyone who got in! And best of luck to all of us who got deferred. I’m so proud of my cousin for making it into Electrical Engineering. Looking at raising my ACT score up from a 31 next week. No pressure, right?

I think my biggest problem is my school is the only engineering focused one within reach, but it’s so small there has been no AP classes offered until this year. Also grade mess-up Sophomore year that means my GPA dropped from a 4.33 to a 4.0.

I am taking my 4th college class and have a 5th planned for next semester. So I have 6 or 8 credit points. I also have all the bonus points but the extra English.

Summary: Deferred for Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 4.0
ACT: 31
Honors classes taken: 6
College classes taken: 3 (on 4, 5 planned)
Work hours: 12
Leadership experience
Intel International Science and Engineering Fair Finalist

Again, hope I’ll be seeing all you next fall :)

@swimdogmom I got accepted via portal change but I haven’t received an email, when will that come?

@sdmrer Yes it will come and will require some patience - BUT be sure to check your SPAM email as often these notices end up there. May take several days BTW so do be patient… Continue to check your portal too as this is the ultimate ‘go to’ place for communications with CP.
