I knew you’d get in literally, your stats were amazing was only a matter of time.

Congratulations @literally !!! Well done! Celebrate the day!

Thank you all so much! Congrats to everyone else who has gotten in, and good luck to those who are still waiting! :)

thanks gonna need it. is cal poly ur first choice?

@TSchaser

i don’t really have a “top choice” school at the moment, but Cal Poly is definitely an option for me!!

@tintinucd My daughter was admitted to Math yesterday afternoon

Good luck everyone :)

I JUST GOT IN FOR BIOCHEMISTRY!!!

I was accepted yesterday as a Philosophy major, but I would like to know more about the school now since I’ve encountered some pretty bad reviews. I visited once a couple years ago with a school club and it was nice, but I’m considering a visit sometime soon. I am now also going to be researching the philosophy department more as I hadn’t really seriously considered Cal Poly for my particular major before (I always saw it as more of a math/science school). Anyways, congrats to all those who got in and I wish the best to all those still waiting!

Accepted Business Administration
CSU GPA 3.78

STOKED

Has anybody been accepted for Art and Design after having submitted the supplemental art work?

@apa3xd…I would be quite interested to see how the “learn by doing” approach translates to the study of philosophy! ;-)

and congratulations on your acceptance. more information on the “bad reviews” you have heard would be of interest as well…but you should definitely visit again before making a final decision.

Really hoping that engineering comes out tomorrow!!! It would suck if they postponed engineering to next week…

what were their stats and when were they notified? @justin7473

Waiting for BME 4.04 gpa in state freshmen.

@Apa3xd When I toured, I really liked the campus. I am an engineering hopeful and while I was touring, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was a perfect fit for me. I did ask a lot of questions though and sorry for the long post but my thoughts and their answers to my questions are below. Not all of it may help you as a philosophy student but it may help someone else so I will include everything.

Cal Poly SLO
Will my AP tests count for credit?
If they are outside your major, it will most likely carry over. If it is a required class for your major, you may have to retake it. You do get to get priority when picking classes and such though.

How much interaction is there between engineering majors?
A lot. QT+, bot club, student government, Baja team, a lot of stuff where engineering majors can interact.

What’s the average work load?
It’s can be tough but really doable for the most part.

How are the lab facilities?
Really nice. They have great shops too for any manufacturing. They also have a great construction management program which I am excited to possibly take classes in.

How often do people get internships from the school?
A lot. Lots and lots of hands on stuff.

How difficult is it to switch engineering majors?
It’s hard between programs but if I decide to change between types of engineering, it is moderately easy.

Number of credits limit?
22

How would you describe the students?
Friendly, well rounded (this is my experience from just being on campus)

How large is a normal class and lecture?
Normally 20-40 for classes. 400 maximum possible for lectures but normally 200

Inter mural volleyball?
Yes. Club sports, three levels of inter murals for beginners, moderate players, and people who are really good.

Clubs?
A ton of really cool clubs as mentioned above.

Do a lot of students have jobs?
There seemed to be some opportunities but I did not ask specifically.

Housing?
Three types of housing for freshmen. Red bricks are divided by major. You share bathrooms with whole hall.
Gray housing (connections)- have an emphasis on connecting students. Rooms of two and three that are around central hub.
Apartments- Four people with a common room and a kitchen. You get your own space but sacrifice the dorm experience.

Other things to note:
Free massage tables
Rock climbing
Impressive new gym facilities
Beach is 10 minutes away
Farmers markets in Thursday nights in the downtown area
Outdoor equipment rental area- they let you rent kayaks, paddle boards, bikes, and other outdoor equipment for pretty cheap so you can enjoy the locations around SLO.

Anyways, I love the hands on aspect of learning. I’m big on robotics, construction management, and anything else like it. Therefore, I loved seeing SLO and possibly being able to go there for college.

So… Ya. I don’t know if this helps you at all but I just wanted to give my impressions in order to possibly help someone. Good luck in your decision.
