Update: Son just received letter with 19K AJ Drexel scholarship offer. See stats above.^^^

Accepted for Computer Engineering.
GPA: 3.9
SAT: 2010

DS Rejected for computer science?
3.6, 34 ACT, Eagle Scout, NM Commended, good ecs and recs, 5s on his APs, fast-track app.

surprised. not one of his top choices, but still surprised. kind of shakes your confidence in what his other results might be.

Really don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but a couple hours ago my sons status had been updated (today) and said …unfortunately we are unable to offer admission at this time… Although the other prior statements- …application is under review… and …application is incomplete…(waiting for transcripts) were still there as well. Now, minutes ago, the newer statement …unable to offer…has been removed. A little unsettling but at least we’re back to being hopeful!

^ same here, we shall see… at least he missed the drama!

don’t know what to think after reading these posts from this afternoon…

DS received letter in mail today dated oct. 30 and thanked him for applying. Application was now complete and under review. gave url to access portal and check app status.

went to portal (discover.drexel.edu) and logged in. got good news! will get official letter in mail. we were so excited and going crazy. told my sister and whole family - they went crazy! he visited in summer and submitted vip application - transcript, rec’s and other materials sent in early october. but just got Oct SAT scores last week.

but after reading these posts and learning about conflicting messages this afternoon, not sure what to think…guess we’ll call on monday to be sure. he applied to College of Engineering for computer science.

still very excited for him and fingers crossed.

^Same thing happened to me as well. I’m assuming since I got accepted on Tuesday(live in NC so mail takes around a week to get down here) that I should get my acceptance letter on Tuesday.

And congrats to you! and hoping that the good news arrives soon for both of us…we live in VA, so maybe it takes awhile.

COE and I-school are amazing programs and the coop placements are outstanding. We went to the I-School open house when we visited. Was very impressed by the academic staff, support system and offerings. it’s a small school feel in a large university - they know their students and give them great support. internships at google, microsoft and other major companies (and startups) among best in the whole school.

software engineering program bridged both i-school and engineering school. though my son is more interested in computer science at this time, this major brings the best of both worlds. and even better if you like the business side of IT.

Drexel is a great school for place to pursue studies and real world experience - not to mention a great city to explore for students. guess you can tell i’m sold on it.

good luck to all! and hopefully, we’ll both get those letters soon!

Major congrats to all! especially to AL34 - well worth the wait and drama!

Drexel has well-known programs that span a wide spectrum of interests. Given the economic climate and other coop schools getting bumps in applications, Drexel is a great choice.

Told our guidance counselor on DS’s acceptance and he’s spreading the news. Drexel is a solid choice for college.

the money part makes it hard. I’m hoping we can hear something on the financial aid end too. Good coops certainly help offset some of the costs, but got plenty more to spend.
