I hope all you guys hear back soon!

im *ed. im currently being counted as OOS. i’m so busy trying to sort this * out.

I’m being considered OOS as well, how are you taking care of this? I e-mailed my admissions officer for Michigan and she told me to wait and see if I get accepted before going through the pretty hefty process of becoming in-state again.

Me too. I already sent in the necessary forms, but they don’t seem to have done anything about it yet. I can’t be accepted OOS, I just don’t have the stats, so I’d like to see it cleared up.

Well I wouldn’t wait they’re gonna give some amount of preference to those in staters

That’s some BS, since being OOS lowers your chance of getting accepted significantly…I’d call em and get this sorted out ASAP.

agreed^. call them tomorrow & be like ‘i NEED to fix this problem, asap…’. lol.

Remember that they do admissions based on regions. As long as your region is in Michigan you’re given the same consideration. My mom asked admissions and my friend (who is international but living in Michigan) asked our admissions person and they both verified that. Yeah, I’m also classified as out of state (but really instate).

what is the michigan region then? does it by chance include MN

^No. It just includes Michigan.

^haha okay, In the context it sounded like it could include Ohio and maybe Indiana

Has anyone payed their deposit yet? If you do pay it now, is there anything you can do right now (such as sign up for orientation, dorms etc)?

Also, does the CSS PROFILE show up as received in WA under the financial aid document section?

Finally, when I go to the financial aid section on WA, it says the aid year is 2011. Shouldn’t the year be 2010? Or is 2011 correct?

dorms are chosen on a raffle and sending a deposit early doesn’t increase your chances of getting a location you like. I don’t think you can expect any information about aid until the spring, after the FAFSA is sent.

That sounds about right, collegebound_guy.

yosup, i think WA lists both 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 FA column, so no worries :)

Hi. Has anyone seen the following and should I be concerned? When I check my status on Wolverine access it says my self reported residency status is “In State” and below that the U of M Determined Residency Status says “Pending”. Then below that, it says if these are different that I should review their residency requirements. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life and both my parents have lived in Michigan for my whole life (and now). We did recently move (both old house and new house are in Michigan) so my school records they received show a different address than my actual new address.

I wouldn’t worry until it changes from pending to out-of-state.

Thanks guys.

When I go to any financial aid section on WA, it says “Aid year” and under that, “2011”. Shouldn’t this say 2010? o_O

No, 2010 is Financial Aid Year 2009-2010.

To all those of you worried about being OOS when you’re in state – we were in same situation last year and wrote admissions a letter letting them know that a) residency was under review b) we qualified for residency and submitted evidence and c) to please not evaluate app as OOS.
My s. received his acceptance about 1 week AFTER the residency office granted him Instate, fyi. The residency office took about 10 weeks to process it. So it’s possible there was a connection. If you’re worried about borderline stats, a letter may help you too. Good luck.
