^
omg. wow. i never knew they had such a thing!! gaahh now i wish i went to a detroit school. haha. wow.

You know i think they do that because kids in Detroit are so disadvantaged that they want to give them a fair chance. I think this is a great thing

^^
Yeah I know, I have thought of how nice it may be with all the on-site admissions but overall I’m glad where I’am right now since not being a Detroit resident doesn’t set me for the stage of being less successful.

its a lifesaver
i didnt think i would get into umich

I got in, but I hope I don’t end up here b/c it was my safety.

^where else are you applying?

Is anybody on this thread the National Honors Society PRESIDENT of their school, and has gotten accepted by UofM??

If not would you believe that being President of NHS be a major hook in the admissions process of an application?

Thanks!

MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Princeton, Brown, and Cornell

P.S. I’m an nhs prez

wow buddymcawesome
u aim high

i already sent in my apps for all of them except brown and princeton, but my P app is just about finished, just need to re-edit my essays. But, if I get in MIT early then I’m done w/ all my apps.

But, I’d still be happy at Mich., just a little disappointed too…

Not sure if it would be a hook but last year a NHS president at my school got accepted, note he was also a val.

Wow BuddyMcAwsome your applying to a lot of the worlds most notable schools, but at least you also have a great safety which is really great to have.

NHS pres wouldn’t even be a small hook IMO, just something that would slightly help you if you’re borderline…

Alright guys thanks for the input!..& good luck with those schools BuddyMcAwesome lol. Indiana University is my safety and UofM is the one I’m reaching for. I’m NHS Prez and hoping that along with tons of Community Service hours helps a bit.

I’m currently taking a course where I go to our local hospital 3 days a week shadowing physicians and nurses. I switch rotations every 2 weeks (currently in Physical Therapy; MedSurg last week), and by the end of Senior Year I’ll have had over 300+ hours of hospital experience. Saw a C-Section about a month ago as well. I’m hoping this helps too!

GO BLUE!!

yeah… I’m really interested in engineering. I’ve got great stats: 2300, val., NMF, NHS pres, founder of a club, matsci research, so I don’t think I’m diluted to think I will get into at least one of those schools, but it does feel great to know that I’ve at least got UMich.

What sucks though, is that there’s this kid who goes to my school who got in Mich. who cheats on every test, SAT included, so I’d kinda be *ed if I had to see him all the time at college, since he’s such a phony ***bag

^
Well considering your stats and the universities you’ve applied to I wouldn’t be surprised if you got into at least one, well wouldn’t you at least do ED to one of these schools?

Wow I didn’t really think students could cheat on the SAT/ACT but I definately know those who got lucky with scores.

i did EA at MIT (top choice) and Caltech

Wow you do aim high. Good luck with all of those!
