Official Class of 2014 University of Michigan Decisions Thread

^ Lol, you didn’t look up the price of attending, before you applied?

i didn’t.

…holy crap, haha.

Yeah, UMich is SUPER expensive… Even at 11K in-state, it’s a lot for me! I may end up having to go to MSU because of the scholarship money and financial aid they’re giving me. As much as I’d love to be a Wolverine, I’d like to have money for grad/law school, too!

Are they need blind?

i guess i didn’t haha. i was just worried about getting in, not affording it.
yeah are they need blind? i checked the financial aid thing on my application … even though there’s no way i would get it. but my dad wanted me to check it anyway for some reason

gratz all 10char

No, U of M isn’t need blind.

I think most OOS students don’t get all of their needs met in terms of financial aid. I could be wrong though o_O

I have a question about the validity of this statement. I talked online and called the UM admissions council and they said they would release no more decisions until December 24th. I applied October 30th (postmark date). My scores and transcript got delayed but they said I still made early action. However, the guy I was talking to the phone said I would have had to have applied really late and had a horrible GPA and test average to get rejected on December 24th. He said that it’s Christmas Eve and UofM tries to send as many acceptances as possible. Does this mean if I haven’t gotten an acceptance that I’m in.

Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.70 (Unweighted)
ACT: 31
School: Rochester Adams High School
Sports: None
Extra curriculars: I volunteer 20 hours at Troy Beaumont on Thursday (3 hr/week)
Chess Club (not very consistent)
Ping Pong Club(not very consistent)
Anime Club (not very consistent)
AP: Chem (2) Bio (5) AP Calc BC (3) AP Physics (3)
I did very badly sophomore year
My essays were alright.
So far I’ve heard nothing

^ You should be in.

Hahahahaha ^ at that.

Looks like the OOS tuition is $22K more and the most you can get in grants is $20K. So it’s unlikely I’ll end up at Mich if I get into UC Berkeley, LA, or San Diego. Not sure why I applied!

UoMichigan the guy seriously said they would give out acceptances because it’s Christmas eve??

Ya, they said “You’d be hard pressed to get a deferral at that time of a year, but I’m not guaranteeing anything! I’m sure you’ll be fine.” Then online someone was like, you will likely get in on December 24th, there are hardly any rejections on that date.

I’m not lying

^a LOT of people have not heard back yet. so…no one really knows any thing.

I really want to believe it. But it’s probably not true. Actually…if you do get a view decision link on the 24th…and it’s on wolverine access…it’s definitely an acceptance because all they do is post acceptances. If you get deferred they will sneakily send you a letter in the mail or add “7th semester grades-notified” to your credentials on WA.

The lady I talked to before said that if you get it they will notify you online on December 24th. If not you will likely get a deferral letter which asks for 7th semester grades. She said that I (being a 3.7 and 31) would likely get in and hear it on December 24th. They are sending no more acceptances until that day besides maybe a few next Thursday.

Ok so for the record… if AS OF TODAY I have not received a deferral notice, I am going to be accepted on Dec 24?

No one can tell for sure, but I want to hear back before that… But if we haven’t heard back and it means we are accepted I am fine with that, but I don’t think there is anyway they can accept all the people who haven’t heard back…

i’m sure there will be plenty of deferrals next week. i think he meant that if you still havn’t heard back right before 24th you’ll probably be accepted on the 24th
