^ oops my bad, this college process has been soo draining. Anyone know for sure they’re going?

to alli1q

what went wrong?
ur stats were good
and that other girl got a 1970 and she still got in
was it legacy?

also to anyone who can answer this question
does people in Massachusetts get and upper advantage compared to kids in new jersey?

i dont know i was asking the same thing. I have legacy, sports, leadership, community service. plenty of kids from my school got in with lower stats but they were all boys. my school is only about five minutes from bc so many kids apply and it is very competitive. So far i havent heard of any girls that have gotten in. my friend also got defered with much much higher stats than me.
i was extremely upset, bc was my dream school. they say 20% of deferals get accepted regular, but only 2 out of 86 deferal in the last 6 years have been accepted at my school. so there isnt very much hope although my senior grades are much higher (straight As rigorous course load)
i’ll hope for the best but im moving on
good news is that i was accepted to northeastern with honors today!

Dear val293 : If you made the Honors Program, your notification is generally included in your acceptance package.

Dear limecake : Massachusetts covers about 20% of the enrolled pool and as a result, competition for those slots can become even tougher than the general pool. When trying to create a diversity of thought within the incoming class, part of the discussion does cover the home locations of students.

Dear alli1q : On your deferral, remember that as a Massachusetts resident, you are coming from the most heavily represented state-wise population at Boston College. Next, take a look at a couple of points you have offered about your written materials.
Reading these words, did you answer the question “why does Boston College need you as part of the campus?” or did you answer “why Boston College is a great fit for me?”. When one talks about their impact on others, the essay can go in either direction, so this is something you might want to review with a critical eye. Also, you have to gain some visibility into your submitted teacher recommendations at this point as that material might well have impacted your application.

Your observation about “all the boys got in, all the girls got deferred” might or might not be true, but also note that the applicant pool in the past two years has been more heavily female than male (53:47) in recent years although that discrepancy should not create the “all” extremes you are citing.
