Thanks JustAnotherDad. I got my acceptance in the mail today! My online account still doesn’t have the decision but I’m not going to bother with it seeing as I already received my acceptance letter.

Congrats guys! That’s awesome :)

Wooh I got the Dean’s scholarship… Which is odd because I received 6 C’s and 1 D throughout high school - so that goes to show YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!

Umm… I just got my letter. No mention of merit scholarships. I’m so confused, my stats are pretty damn good, other than my SAT (which is just fair/good). 95% sure I’m not attending now

If you don’t mInd 23simone23,what were your stats? On the fin aid website they said merit aid recipients were determined by recalculated GPA (average of your core classes so minus your art and elective classes) and your V+CR score from the SAT I. I’m not sure if they actually recalculate your GPA (as I did mine which normally would be 3.42UW/3.83W but recalculated is around 3.1) which supposedly does not include any weighted grades so everything is on a 4.0 scale regardless of Honors or AP. My CR+V is 1250.

Sorry, I dun goofed the CR+V thing. I meant they consider your Verbal and Math SAT I scores combined.

When do we find out about merit aid? Is it April 1st?

Merit aid as in scholarships notifications are included with your acceptance letter. My scholarship letter was right behind the acceptance one. April 1 is when need based aid is sent. If you didn’t receive any scholarship information in your acceptance envelope you probably didn’t receive one. Emerson also sends invites to scholarship recipients to attend a ceremony type thing in Boston.

ACCEPTED: Theatre Education Major

SAT: M 590 CR 720 W 760 Overall 2070
GPA: 3.85/4.00

SO PSYCHED! Plus I just got my letter and found out I got the Dean’s Scholarship! (14k/yr) And out of all the acceptances I’ve gotten, Emerson sends the coolest acceptance letter by far. It’s pretty legit. Now I’m just waiting for that need-based Financial aid!

Accepted to the Writing, Literature, and Publishing program! I was so surprised because Emerson’s admissions office had told me my application file was lost, ad I decided not to pursue it any further. Apparently somebody was looking out for me, because I also received the $10000 Emersonian scholarship. I am quite pleased indeed.

Not positive if I’m going here yet, but I was accepted into the Theatre design/ Technology program. I didn’t think i would get in because I had a phone interview at 2am (due to my time difference) which I totally thought I bombed. Goes to show you shouldn’t try to judge your own interviews!

hey, sorry to get backt to you so late (@neoscreenwriter). I don’t have time to recalculate mine right now, but I have about a 3.4 UW/3.8 W GPA as well. I have gotten a B+ in Algebra II and B in Calc… so that explains it I guess. I thought merit aid would be judged more by the com/arts related classes seeing as it’s a com/arts college. Oh well, I haven’t received my final award letter yet so we’ll see…

My acceptance letter says I got into the journalism program, how do I know if its for broadcast or print?

@greEn89

You should call their admissions offices to make sure. Or if you’re not a phone person then email them.

Accepted to WLP, but without any sort of merit scholarschip. It’ll all depend on what need based financial aid I get. Emerson is a great school, and I would love to attend.

Accepted into Media Studies
3.41 UW / 4.0 W
1450 CR + M SAT

No merit scholarship…doesn’t bode well for my chances at attending.

D accepted EA to WLP. Decision time…waiting on final aid award. Tentative was pretty good, but still $6k more than her other choice which is in-state public, but doesn’t have the WLP. In-state school would have to do major in English w/ concentration in writing, but it does have options for minor in foreign language which wouldn’t be the case if she attends Emerson. We’ll see, but $6k is a big difference. She could always do her MFA at Emerson and get her BA in English w/ writing concentration here in VA. My concerns are whether she’ll get decent internships here in VA and whether they’ll be as good as what she could get through EC in Boston.

Finally received the final award letter on Wednesday. No change, but D feels very strongly about attending. Her 2nd choice school is Christopher Newport U here in VA. %-wise Emerson gave much higher % of aid in grants and workstudy than CNU, but it’s still quite a bit more expensive. At a guess looking at about 30k more at the end of 4 years. From what I can tell CNUs English program doesn’t compare to Emerson’s WLP and the available internships and connections in Boston probably couldn’t be matched either. While I think she’ll miss out on the campus environment by not attending CNU (the campus and dorms are beautiful), she’s feeling strongly about EC. I’m just afraid of how she’ll feel when the loan repayment is staring her in the face. May 1 is around the corner. She’s planning to choose Emerson.

What did she decide?

JLR123 - she decided on Emerson. We’ll be heading to Boston this weekend for move-in and orientation.
