I hope EAs hear back next Tuesday. I’ll be anxiously waiting until then!

When do you find out if you getcscholsrships?

@frostieman Correct, in fact it doesn’t hurt your ability to do three co-ops at all. My brother is a finance major and will be starting his second co-op next semester as a 3rd year student.

@Heartmade I think EAs will hear back on the 15th, one week from today. That’s how it has been in the past

Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): None really to speak of…I don’t think that AP Scholar things count.

Extracurriculars: Member of a competitive programming team, work for student literary magazine, tutor kids in math and science online

Job/Work Experience: 1 yr paid internship at a county government office, currently work for family run healthcare IT magazine as an editor and social media manager, currently work for an online publication with over 300 articles published to-date
Volunteer/Community service: 80+ hours at county government office, 40+ hours at a local film festival, 100+ hours at libraries across a couple of different counties, 20+ hours for local non-profits
Summer Activities: Mostly worked through the summer, but last year I attended a 14-day residential competitive programming camp at the University of Central Florida on scholarship

Essays: No supplemental, my common app essay was basically about how growing up in a small town has taught me a lot about tolerating intolerant people, learning from different people, accepting others, etc etc. I was told that it was good, I’d rate it a 7.5-8/10.
Teacher Rec #1: I imagine it would be strong. From my competitive programming coach and former AP CS instructor. Likes me a whole lot, but I don’t know if he’s a good writer. I’d rate this 7.5-8/10 too.
Teacher Rec #2: n/a
Counselor Rec: From my dad, since I’m homeschooled. He’s an English teacher and obviously he has a lot of reason to like me so I imagine it was good, haha. 9/10.
Other Rec: From a former employer, who really really likes me. He studied law up in Boston and he really wanted me to go to school up north. 8-8.5/10.

Applied for Financial Aid?: yes
State (if domestic applicant): FL
Country (if international applicant): n/a
School Type: homeschooled
Ethnicity: Mixed (White/Filipino)
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: Mom left when I was a baby, so raised by a single dad. Around 40k/yr.
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None that I can think of, other than maybe that I’m homeschooled?

Reflection:
Strengths: ACT score, a lot of work and volunteer experience
Weaknesses: Hate that I don’t have any major awards and I wish that my SAT II scores were stronger (I almost cried at my Bio score)
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/denied: Unique overall high school experience maybe? I don’t know

Man, I’m absolutely thrilled to get up to Boston!!! The last thirty minutes have had a lot of gratuitous swearing and general excitement from my family. Good luck to all EA/RD/deferred applicants!

I got deferrred, it it realy going to be April 1st that I hear?

Congratulations to all! So ED on a Thursday at 8 PM. There is a good chance that EA decisions will come out next week: Tuesday? Thursday? I would not hazard a guess.

Congrats everyone that got in ED! If you got deferred, absolutely don’t give up hope - as others have mentioned, deferral is common in EA/ED and you still have a chance RD.

Does anyone know how to check money or scholarship?

Congrats everyone who got accepted! Can’t wait another week for my desicion ahh

@MichaelA1327 There should be a separate tab on the decision page for financial aid/ scholarships

@MichaelA1327 When I open up my decision page on the left side of the screen there are different documents that you can open. One says ‘Scholarship’ and there’s also a ‘Financial Aid’ one.

In other news, I’m interested in seeing more decisions so we can all put the issue to rest re: NEU’s new honors program.

Congrats to all ED applicants who got in - did anyone get scholarships/honors college admission?

@engineur I received a Dean’s Scholarship but I don’t think there’s any word on the honors college yet. That’s been a big question mark for the class of 2021 and I imagine it will remain one at least until EA decisions are released.

How many of you guys posted a linkedin profile link? I just added mine (EA applicant). AND CONGRATS TO ALL WHO GOT IN!
