Official Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion Thread

Any insight from Tepper applicants? I heard they are expanding their numbers but idk if it means for classes after 2022.

@waiting2022 They are expanding their numbers? Gives me some slight hope, but will most likely just make the L hurt more

Any Indication of when decisions come out? The wait is killing me!!

from what ive looked up last year it was 3/26 which was a sunday.

@Heisenberg1700. I do not have any official info. Reading a few pages earlier last night, the speculation is this Sunday 03/25 to be released. If that online release date is correct, we should see FAT packets arrive in snail mail to the accepted students (this is what I noticed in last years thread).

Good luck to everyone!

There is an article about the surge in applicants on their facebook page. All it says is “by March 31”.

@TennisTFL If you go to the website there’s info about the Tepper Quad expansion and it says: “Expansion of the undergraduate business program enrollment by 40 percent and growth of business education offerings for all students across the Carnegie Mellon campus.” It’s not a huge program so 40% may be like 45 spots, but it only takes 1 (or 2 for both of us!). At this point I will take any morsel of encouragement. Best of luck during this crazy process!

My “student tax return” said it was waived on march 12th, 2018. Does that mean anything lol

@ricecooker420 mine was waived and the status date is today which is odd because I swore it’s been waived for a while now.I thought it was waived back in February.

So I just realized I have a “Y” in the box for midyear grade report only… does this mean it’s missing?

@collegeishard if it was received, it should show a date in the 1st column. If that is there, I wouldn’t worry about the y.

@Pianomonster20 mine was waived yesterday too. weird. prob doesnt mean anything if it helps bc im in for a near certain denial based on stats.

@ACollegeHopeful3 ok. My interviewer loved me when I went there but I’ve been freaking out about my decision. And also just bc your stats might be low doesn’t mean much. My grades are low for engineering in my opinion.

ive got a 1320/3.91W. i didnt interview or anything. granted, i applied for an english degree in a STEM college so i migh thave an advantage there but who knows. best of luck to you and your stats look great from other posts! @Pianomonster20

@ACollegeHopeful3 I bet you’ll be fine! It’s not all about stats. Plus, apparently this year they’re not including demonstrated interest. Who knows. Is CMU your top choice?

What is demonstrated interest? @Pianomonster20

@pianomonster20 at this point yes. i was rejected from NEU and BU and waitlisted at emerson college. i originally applied because its in my home city. considering my rejections fromc olleges with higher acceptance rates though it doesn’t look great, haha. and the fact they arent considering demonstrated interest anymore is great! i’ll be looking out for your decision.

@anonymous_otter127 it’s just going to the school. It’s a way for schools to see if you’re applying for the sake of applying or if you actually want to go. Some schools find this super important and will reject students if they show no interest because they want to make sure that a large amount of students who are accepted go to that school. (Does this make sense?) So according to the common data set it is no longer considered. Who knows.

@ACollegeHopeful3 hey, you never know. Just know that it all works out for a reason. That’s what I keep telling myself even though I keep stressing myself out over decisions. Good luck!!!

I just checked my portal and it says that my student tax return was waived and the status date is 3/20 and I know for a fact that it said 3/19 when I checked yesterday and the day before. And before 3/19 I was almost positive it had been waived and had an earlier status date…

@Pianomonster20 Based on what I see the status date on ‘Student Tax Return - waived’ is updated almost everyday. I dont think it means anything…
