Are there two kinds of waitlists? Can someone confirm?
Heyigotnoue: DDs stats for Tepper-
34 ACT, 3.98 UW gpa, theatre, dance, and art ECs, one professional theatre production, some dance awards, summer volunteering as teacher assistant for underprivileged kids. Legacy.
@alizarin well I have no chance then
restricted engineering are ārestrictedā from declaring ECE as their major. The admissions letter for restricted is very clear on that. its to control the size of the ECE department
DD accepted to MCS and offered the SHS and QSS programs.
If you were wait listed do not despair. They will take WL students. Do what you can to show interest and make sure they know you will come. Lots of kids who get into CMU have other options as well and with high applicant counts this year I think that means a lot of schools will go to their WL as applicants make decisions.
If you didnāt get in your top choice, do not give up on yourself. What made you competitive for these schools is still true about you! Both of my older kids got rejected from their ātop choiceā (reach) schools. Both are amazingly happy where they went, and had a great experience they would not trade to do it over. The older one chose a bigger scholarship school over a ātop 5ā engineering school and now we can use that money for his MBA next year!
College acceptance is not a validation of you, nor does denial reduce your value as a person. It is all about what you do at college that counts! Hang in there!
Our FAT letter came in. Gave new id number to check FA, but an error page pops up. Anyone else having that issue?
@mmstanfordbound Yale-NUS; great school but Iāve lived in asia for a really long time I saw you got into JHU! congrats!! youāre set
Accepted into Engineering!!! I was a SAMS participant for those who track that kind of stuff. I was accepted yesterday to Stanford and was accepted to Cornell University as a Meinig Family Cornell National Scholar and Ryan Engineering Scholar, so I will decide between those two. I do have a great deal of guilt since CMU really helped me grow as a student, and person, through SAMS. I will be, forever, in their debt and will always consider myself to be a Tartan!!!
All my Applications are in now, and I am so glad that this is all over (it has been intense):
Accepted: Stanford Engineering, Cornell Engineering, Carnegie Mellon Engineering. Williams College Physics, Smith College Engineering, and Case Western Engineering.
Waitlisted: Harvard, Columbia, Dartmouth, UChicago, Amherst, Rice, and Vanderbilt.
Rejected: Yale, Princeton (Deferred EA), Penn, Northwestern, and Swarthmore.
@chimilk Haha thank you But I donāt think Iām going to JHU - it isnāt too great on its CS programs
I think everybody gets the priority waitlist option. My stats are quite low compared to many others in this forum and I was still given that option. The only difference between the two is priority is for those who will attend the school if theyāre accepted.
I got my package!!!
Priority waitlisted for School of Music.
Accepted to:
NEC with Deans Scholarship
University of Washington
Christopher Newport University School of Music, Presidential, Honors and music Scholarship
Shenandoah University School of Music, Presidential Scholarship and Music Scholarship
George Mason University School of Music, Full music scholarship
Any advice? CMU was top choice, now not sure what to do. Any thoughts on NEC?
Priority wait listed for engineering.
What does that mean? Is it worth waiting or should we go ahead and accept the colleges that was accepted into?
@icantread stats??? Iām scared to check
@heyigotnoclue
SAT: 69
accepted!! does scholarship info come with the letter? i didnāt and a bit worried
@heyigotnoclue I recommend you check so you can move forward and make a decision about your future

Rejectedā¦ Thought Iād get in
Same, Rejected MCS. I thought my ecs + being a recruited athlete would all but guarantee me a spot. Guess not Gratz to those who got in!
