Official College of William and Mary Class of 2011 Decisions Thread

Is it correct that out of state letters are actually sent out later? I'm in Maryland, so if they are sent out at the same time I should hear soon, but I thought I read that this was not the case?

I hope that's not true and they were all sent out at the same time. :( I think based on last year it looked like there was quite a difference in when in-state and OOS found out though...

Yeah I Got In Today!!!!!!!!!

I know what is with that? We live like 45min away from W&M. I just hope we get it tomorrow.

yeah, i live about 45 minutes away too!
i go to PAHS.

so i've been asking around and it seems that everyone who got a letter today was accepted (about 5 people- all in virginia beach). which makes me even more nervous that maybe the upcoming "batches" that WM sends out will have less acceptance letters?

I'm sure they send out letters in waves, each with some acceptances and rejections...it would be too cruel to send out all the acceptances and rejections separately.

I was thinking that they sent them all out at once and the heavier ones(accepted) took longer in the USPS and the lighter(denied) ones would receive faster. I just hope I get my letter tomorrow.

Someone should call admissions tomorrow to ask if all decisions have been sent, or if they're going out in waves.

The students at my school who applied early decision and were accepted received the acceptance package two days before the deferred/rejected kids. I think they all had the same postmark date but I'll have to check on it.

One of my friends got one and I didn't...oh noes!

I live in Chesapeake (south eastern area)

So.... is anyone that got in actually going to WM????

I am 99.99% sure that I am going to W&M... I just want to wait to see my financial aid package before I send out that postcard...

o0o0o0 ok... i want to see about fin aid too. I got into cornell and WM so far and am leaning towards Cornell.

but if the finaid isn't good enough, i can't go.

like 20% of my graduating class is going to WM. not too pleased about that

omgomgomgg letters are being sent out!? this is too soon i wasnt expecting itt. but im out of state so maybe it wont be that soon.

nervous.

Aite here's my stats for acceptance - this will make some of you with lower GPAs more hopeful :)

GPA: 3.487 (without semester grades) 3.528 (with semester grades) weighted

SATs: 700 Math 680 Reading 660 Writing 670 Math IIC 670 US History

Recs: I think these and my essay got me in. 1 from boss at internship for 3 yrs saying I was the best intern they've ever had, better than many college level students, 1 from English teacher saying I was one of the best in her career (was read the opening sentence), 1 from a counselor that read me her very positive recommendation, and 1 from a teacher who I've literally taught classes for and regularly pulls me out of my other classes for help.

Essays: I wrote about my business endeavors, taking them from starting out with a lemonade stand and to running a global computer hardware trade business and talking about that. I feel like I came through pretty well.

ECs: Besides the business, Pres, founder, and trip leader in ski club. Officer in 2 other clubs, community service, teaching skiing to people with disabilities, but things I was interested in - as policy I don't do something simply to get into college.

School: Very competitive public magnet in fairfax va (In state obviously)

Have any OOSers heard anything?

Accepted

SAT: 1870/2400 1260/1600

GPA: 3.9 weighted, IB Diploma Candidate

Recs: Didn't submit any

Essay: Honestly I don't remember what I wrote. It was a last minute app, so it was a rush job. It probably wasn't too bad.

ECs: Varsity Sports + Various Clubs and Honor Societies

School: Very large, competitive school. Fairfax, VA.

aaron12345, how did you send in so many recs?

I thought they only considered one additional one other than the counselor rec...?

S hasn't ruled it out, but not on the top of the list right now.
