In terms of work experience, I am a self-employed online entrepreneur. I typically purchase and resell/invest in products on the internet for up to/over $2000 profit each week, my best being a 1600% return. It gives me a variety of skills, including and not limited to time management, customer service, consumer relations, photography, web development, promotion, selling, and insight into the business and entrepreneurial world. I have also begun to sell products for other people, as a consignment service.

AP/Honors Classes Taken (grade taken):

AP World History 9

AP World History 10

AP US History (11)
AP English-11 Language (11)
AP US/VA Government (12)
AP English-12 Literature (12)
AP Statistics (12)

I am also a year ahead, because I skipped a grade. I'll include an essay about it if I have the appropriate prompt...

My essays were supposedly good according to my AP English teacher. Did not read the recommendation.

BUT

I have 2 D+s and a C (unweighted) on the transcript. The D+s are in AP World History 10 and in AP Latin Virgil and the C in Calc BC in Junior year. Tjere's also one B from Marine Science. However, everything else is either a A+, A, or B+, and our school has a stricter grading scale than most. I honestly could blame the D on just ONE assignment in world history (tip: never use Ice Cube's music, even censored, in a project- the judges will be intimidated and disqualify you). That was a big factor- even though I really don't like to blame anything on anyone else but myself or make any excuses. Our grading scale is pretty tough, no weights for honors classes. AP is out of 5.0 scale. 98-100 is A+, 94-97 is A, 90-93 is B+, 86-89 is B, 82-85 is C+...etc. I think the scale is relatively tough compared to my friends' schools.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:

Since I am a Monroe Scholar, I received my acceptance packet about 2 weeks ago. Not sure when other OOS applicants will receive theirs...Really like W and M, but the OOS tuition is pricy...I'll probably try to get in-state tuition.

i'm still deciding. waiting for UVa. and their financial aid.
also accepted to Wisconsin, VCU BME, WashingtonSeattle

U of I is really hard to get into if you're not in-state.
I say this as a Chicagoan trying to get into W&M, lol.

Are people still getting acceptance letters? My friend, who totally deserves to go to W&M over me, has yet to receive her letter and she's freaking out. I keep telling her she'll get in, but is that still a possibility? (Please say yes) We're in-state in northern VA and me and all of our friends got their acceptance packets Wednesday...

im instate also and still havnt heard

i hvaent been accepted either and it appears all of the peoplewho wer definitely going to get accepted from my school as well as others already have been. dissapointed to say that it look like a rejection is in my near future...

What the heck. I was waitlisted.

Stats:
In state Fairfax County
SAT: 1360/2010 (700v, 660m, 650w)
SAT2: Lit 700, Math I 690, US History 560
GPA: 4.04 weighted, 3.9 unweighted...........

Good ECs, good national exam awards, good community service...Two girls I know were excepted who were definately less qualified than me. I didn't want to go to W&M (3rd choice) and I already got into my second choice but this makes me worry about UVAs response...

i think all the acceptance letters should be delivered if you are in virginia. and judging from the experience of ED, rejection and deferral(waitlisted for this time) come a day or two later.

accepted*.....

Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: I am possesed of immense strength, but it is dependent upon my hair. It was cut at the beginning of the first semester and I was killed by Philistines/not quite receiving the grades I would have liked, although still doing well.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: The Universe consists largely of iron.

SigmaCentauri,

You look pretty good, surprised you didn't get in. Maybe it was clear that it wasn't your first choice in the essays? Is UVA your number 1? I'm pretty confident you will get in there with those numbers. Not that your numbers aren't good enough for WM, because they are, but UVA is more strictly stats based.

i just got my acceptance letter today.
i was so excited! now, i've gotten into all of the colleges i've applied for, and i just have to wait for uva.
also, i'll probably be attending WM (unless they offer me little financial aid or something).
