OFFICIAL Columbia University Class of 2017 ED Results

@TheReal - My thoughts exactly to the people in here minus the Walt Disney stuff

So…I had this dream about Columbia that I got my admission letter with only three words in it, which were “NO,NO,NO”. What do you guys think of this? Do you think it’s a bad sign?

Are you superstitious? Haha I think it is a way for your brain to subconciously let you know you are freaking out a bit much haha

That’s definitely a bad sign. In fact, it’s a terrible sign. You’ll never get in to Columbia. Columbia will definitely say No,No,No. You don’t stand a chance just cuz of that dream. That dream totally deprived your chance of admission.

Its not need-based for Internationals.
Need based is for americans
for internationals, its need-aware

Sorry, I confused the terms. I meant to say it’s not need-blind for internationals. Only for americans, it’s need-blind which means they don’t put FA in their admission consideration. But it is merit-based (I forgot all the terms) for internationals, so applying with FA can be critical to their admission.

@LittleNicky Hahahha I had a similar dream, but it was around a month ago when I first submitted. It wasn’t quite as specific, but I just remember looking at my decision and feeling horrified and then waking up wanting to cry.

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S TOMORROW

i cant really eat and when i do it doesnt feel very secure down there.

haha and i really havent decided what my outlook persay is. although i did have a kind of revelation on the way home today, and i think you guys might appreciate it.

in a way, our admissions decisions have already been decided. they always have, if you believe in fate and that everything happens for a reason. wherever we end up going, it’ll be because we belong there. who knows, maybe i wont get into columbia because if i did i’d flunk out or i wouldnt make a connection that i will make at wherever i do end up going. we’re all obviously ambitious and intelligent people, so we’ll do great wherever we go! PLUS i keep telling myself that if i go to columbia i might not stand out as much. the whole small fish in a big pond vs. big fish in a small pond thing.

okay, that said, good luck to EVERYONE on this thread! It’s been great getting to know you a little bit and to have people to go through this process with :)

Can somebody explain to me what the talk about a lion animation before it shows the decision?
Does it do that regardless of the decision?

Yes and if you get in you might end up like these people who were actually extremely unhappy:

24 hours to go!!

Once you click the link on the decision page, does anyone have an idea about what you see if you are accepted or rejected?

is there anyone from the same school as you guys who is applying?
what’s everyone’s opinion on the chances of 2 people from the same school getting in?

Last year, my school sent four kids to Columbia. We’re not a private school or a boarding school or magnate school or anything like that, just a regular public school. You should be fine.

@beingjulian i want to figure that out too! i just want to know right off the bat if it’s a yes or a no

I know of at least one other person who is applying (African-American, Female). However, I saw another person whom I only passingly know wearing a Columbia hoodie yesterday… so I’m not sure if she applied ED or is just wearing that for kicks. BUT. I don’t know. Megmayumi’s post makes me feel a lot better…

Hi, 2016er lurking in this thread instead of writing a LitHum paper.

What I remember (if they’re still doing the applyyourself system) is you log in, click on a link that says something along the lines of “click here for your decision,” and if you get in it pops up with your letter from Jessica Marinaccio and a video (mine popped up behind the letter but I think it’s supposed to pop in front). From what I remember from friends if you get rejected the letter also pops up but the first line is something… decidedly less congratulatory. And no video.

So the presence of the video indicates admission. Ahh now that I heard it, I’m so nervous! I keep imagining myself clicking my decision and not seeing the video pop-up…

but i don’t think they’re using the applyyourself system this year
right guys? it’s not the same website i think

i just hope the first line isn’t like “many accomplished people applied to Columbia University this year” or some bs like that
