Yeah same. How do you set up an alum interview?

It says interview are not required at ILR, can I still get one?

I’m applying to the College of Engineering and just randomly got a call from an alumna. She lives in the same village as me so I guess thats why I was able to interview. I didn’t set it up, just to be clear, she received an email from Cornell indicating who in her region was applying.

Guys, I have received a request for an interview as well, and I’m applying to AEM.

These interviews are random. Cornell’s Alumni network sees who is applying and finds alumni who are close to the applicants to have an informal info session/interview.

If there are no close alumni, you will probably not get an interview. I do not think this impacts the admission decision.

Don’t worry if you do not get an “interview”

For those who have had interviews, did the Cornell alum. graduate from the college you applied to? I’m not worried about interviewing/not interviewing, just wondering if they match up.

Just want to make one thing clear. Cornell does not offer ‘interviews’ unless you are applying to the hotel school (which are actual interviews). The alumni ‘interviews’ are really just informational sessions for the applicant. They are completely non evaluative and if you are not offered one, I can nearly assure you that it is because of a lack of available alumni who live in your area. That being said, the alum still reports back to Cornell how the meeting went in about a few sentences, so it’s still important to be professional, show up on time, be polite, and come with questions if only to save yourself from an awkward conversation.

Are interviews required?
All students (both freshman and transfers) who apply to the architecture department in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning or to the School of Hotel Administration are required to have a personal interview. Interviews are also recommended, though not required, for students applying to major in fine arts. In architecture or fine arts, you should be prepared to present your artistic ability through the required portfolio as well; and the hotel school is particularly interested in your knowledge of and commitment to the field of hotel administration.

In all other programs, interviews are neither required nor offered. Campus visits are always encouraged, and most students who apply for freshman admission will be contacted by a member of a local Cornell alumni committee in the fall or winter. These informal conversations with alumni are not required and are meant only to allow an additional opportunity for the student to learn more about Cornell – and for Cornell to learn more about the student.

my hotel school interviewer kept my resume, did that happen for everyone else too?

I’m applying to the College of Human Ecology and just had an interview this afternoon. The person interviewed me lives right next to my high school.

@Ranyixin Did they say anything about when we will get our results?

Tripping out got a 77 in pre calc for the first quarter hopefully they don’t ask for my first quarter grades and I get them up by midterms

Yes. And also same major.

No…He asked me instead XD

No…He asked me instead XD @Kungpaoasian

@Ranyixin, you are the first CHE applicant that I recall posting about an interview. Was the person who interviewed you a graduate of CHE?

He is a member of the Cornell Ambassador Network. No, he graduated from AAP. @connect1234

Thanks, @Ranyixin.

No problem. @connect1234

Does Cornell College of Engg superscore the ACT? Or do they just pick the sitting with the highest composite? I got the same composite both times. They’ll have both my scores but I’m hoping they’ll superscore. There are a lot of differing opinions on this on the net. Does anyone know for sure? My guess is that different schools within Cornell have different policies.
