Hey guys, I have applied ED to Cornell. I have applied for financial aid, but my financial aid ‘to do list’ is blank. Is this normal? How do I know if they received my CSS PROFILE?

@Kungpaoasian probably not. The deadline was a week longer last year and ED is no longer as advantageous as it was in previous years

Anyways happy thanksgiving! Have fun telling every single family member where you’re applying multiple times.

@Cornell19 What do you mean ‘ED is no longer as advantageous’? Why?

@BroomOfThought the ED acceptance rate used to be way higher for Cornell than other Ivy leagues. Ranks play a big factor in where people decide and compared to other Ivies Cornell doesn’t rank as well (I personally don’t care, rankings are stupid). So why student apply to uPenn instead if their chances are theoretically almost the same

@Cornell19 Ohhhh okay that makes sense

@BroomOfThought yeah so say if a student is deciding between uPenn and Cornell, in years past it was 32%vs 25%, 29% vs 24. But now when it is 27% vs 25% you’re going to have some tough decisions. I personally would still choose Cornell though because well i love Cornell

@Kungpaoasian that is from last years. I statistically analyzed admission rate trends and I predict the ED rate is around 25% this year. @ToolBoy ED rate is not going to drop a whole 5.5% rate.

@Radbg74 I also predict acceptance rates between 26-24% this year.

With just two weeks left, I want to say good luck to everyone. Unfortunately, we’re not all going to get in. Although it would be ideal, it is statically impossible. However, those we do not get in, don’t be discouraged. If you are deferred, take the deferral with pride. And if you are outright rejected, you will fall in love with a new school. There are plenty of fish in the sea. And finally, if you are one of the lucky few to be accepted, congratulations! But please, be mindful. Although this may be a time you want to scream it to the world, keep in mind that the other 75% who were not accepted are lurking on this forum still.

@SweetIceTea ayyy #stats

representing Jersey! anyone else

NJ girl at heart, but applying from Illinois

@SweetIcedTea I would predict 26.5%-28.5%. The rate at which applicants has been going up is not possible to maintain and the deadline was earlier this year. Also the decision date is four days earlier

Pickering Ontario Canada!!!

@ Autumn97 do not fret about essays. My D wrote about her experiences volunteering with children with disabilities.
That is the kind of thing that truly drives her. If it isn’t good enough for Cornell it will be for another college. It would be Cornell’s loss and another fine college’s gain. Be confident and always know that there is a silver lining and the cream always rises to the top.

@lisaelba I have been inside them! @hopefulrm I applied to communication!

Does anyone know the date of when we receive our decision? I know it’s at 5:00, but have been hearing mixed responses…

According to the CAAAN’s schedule for this year, December 11 is the scheduled decision date (5PM EST). Anyone planning on waiting for the decision from mail instead?

Does anybody know AEM’s acceptance rate for ED?
