Official Cornell Class of 2019 Regular Decision Applicants!!!!!

Haha, yeah. I guess I may as well sit back and enjoy my second semester then. I just submitted my app & writing supplement a few minutes ago. Now I’m living on a prayer

RD engineering major here! Cornel pls have mercy on us :((

I’m applying engineering and sending in some music…I think it won’t actively hurt, at worst it just won’t help.

RD engineering here as well. So many engineers wooo
I wanted to send music too but tbh Cornell’s art supplement system looks sketch
It’s not even slideroom it’s a cornellmusic@gmail.com (something like that)

RD to Cornell Engineering
just ur regular jo with a 2200, good EC and hope

@thekoolkid Amen!

RD to engineering! Here’s hoping we all get in!

The fact that a 2200 is considered a “regular jo” by CC standards, and no one questions it is actually hilarious

@jamesjunkers‌ really depends on the school your applying to i feel. CoE and CAS with the highest scores, ILR, CALS and AAP with fairly lower scores (sometimes in the 1900’s)

@thegrant, I wasn’t talking in respect to Cornell. I just find it comical that any student can call a 2200 mediocre. It has to be what - like at least the 95th percentile - in the world? It is by no means a score of an “average jo”

@jamesjunkers‌ LOL OHHH, AND YASS A 2200 IS IN THE 99TH PERCENTILE

@thegrant, It’s definetely the worst part of CC in general…

I remember taking my first ACT, coming to CC, and being disappointed with my 28, seeing how a 34 appeared the norm.

I tried to give back a little, after taking the October ACT this year and getting a 33, I tried to explain to all of the high 20s/low 30s that there scores were amazing, and that CC is by no means a way to compare yourself.

The truth is, everyone on CC is above the National average. If you’re coming to CC, you’re showing initiative… Being here alone shows how smart and motivated you are.

@jamesjunkers‌ PREACH BRO. I came to CC with a 1700 sat which is complete garbage to everybody here, and since then raised it to a 2060 (thank god its just art school hehe) but yeah the CC mentality really messes with peoples self esteem loll

this took some time but here are the statistics for Cornell RD 2018 for those who posted.

PLEASE NOTE: i may have made an error with counting 1 or 2 applicants here or there.

OVERALL for all colleges within cornell
Applicants : 39
acceptances : 27 (69 %)
rejects : 10 (25%)
wait listed: 2

CAS
acceptances : 11 (SCORES: 2250, 2180, 2330, 32, 2310, 2380, 2120, 2150, 2330, 2230, 34 (likely letter: tanner dean))
rejects 2 (2220, 2180)

CoE
acceptances: 5 (2150, 2210(likely), 34, 2290, 2280)
rejects: 2 (2200, 35)

CALS
acceptances: 2 (2330, 35)
rejects: 1 (2400 (i suspect this person did a very bad app considering s/he got accepted to Upenn LSM and MIT))

AAP
acceptances: 7 (2390, 2280, 31, 2230, 2110, 2230, 2270)
rejects: 1 (31)

Major not mentioned (i think i made an error here)
acceptances : 1 (2320)
wait lists:2 (1800, 34)
rejected: (2250, 2290, 2330)

Verdict:
the high acceptance rates of people at CC show that there are a lot of bogus applicants to these schools. people who have a very slim chance of really getting in.

so if we have a 2150+/ 33+ on the tests. Good high school record. Good ECs and demonstrated interest in your major which comes out in your essays as well. we are looking at a 50 % chance that we might make it.
taking into account URMs, randomness and some other factors we could probably make an estimate at 40 %

so thats it guys, hope we all get in.
note: these are just statistics based on the previous year posts on CC (many good applicants on CC who got rejected may not have posted, so keep this in mind when reading)

GOOD LUCK to everyone and GO CORNELL!!

@thekoolkid‌ That’s really interesting! I specificially am curious about that data for grades, since I got some B’s but have high test scores  and perhaps more people on CC just come back to report if their outcome is good?

And wait for some reason at my school the acceptance rate overall is like 5%. I feel like it’s cause too many people aren’t showing their “fit” in their essays (I hope) cause they use Cornell as their safety ivy ughhhhh.

Hey everyone,

I don’t want to indicate on my common app that i have previously applied to Cornell. My previous application was not that good. Is it alright to do so?

I applied to Cornell in my senior year at hs but was unsuccessful. I have taken a gap year and I am applying to Cornell again.

@Globalstudent17‌ I think you would have to disclose that. Because if you don’t, wouldn’t it be lying since it is a mandatory question?

@awesomekid‌ Yeah. But would there be any effect if we do not disclose?

Yes, there certainly could be consequences, globalstudent17. If dishonesty is caught in an application, an acceptance could be rescinded. You sign an agreement on your application that your information is true. Lying would not be recommended by anyone. Ugh.
